- Scorn’s personal past returns to complicate politics in the vampire district.
- The fog lifting may signal changing tides in Drowning Wallace.
- Party is now on a path toward direct confrontation with powerful vampire forces.
The sewers of Drowning Wallace were not built for comfort, only for secrets—and for death. The party descended 45 feet below the city’s grim streets, torchlight swallowed by darkness, the air thick with the stench of rot and a magic too ancient to name. A blood trail from a butchered fisherman led them to this underworld, where silence itself seemed to watch them.
Ipid was the first to fall—quite literally—ambushed by a ghoul and hurled into the fetid water below. As the creature snarled in a forgotten tongue, Aldric’s mind snapped to a cult from legend: fanatics who sought immortality through gluttonous undeath. The fight that followed was not clean. It was teeth and fire, blades and panic.
Scorn’s sorcery warped time itself, slowing the enemy. Aldric answered with roaring spheres of flame and thunderous shatters. Ipid, battered and bleeding, stood fast—holding the line with divine defiance even as ghouls closed in from every side. It was only through the party’s desperate coordination that he survived the onslaught.
When the screaming finally led them to Rose Thorn, they found her not as a damsel but a dagger. Her Cloud of Daggers carved through ghoul and paladin alike. Only after the spell’s bite did she mend Ipid’s wounds—half apology, half warning. She had been tracking them through the Great Library’s whispers and would not be left behind again.
They surfaced to find Tom standing guard, a horseshoe charm around his neck and two slain ghouls at his feet. Whatever they once thought of the old stableman had changed. He was a survivor—and maybe something more.
As Rose drank wine and vanished through a portal “home,” Scorn found solace in song, even as a dream of fire haunted Ipid’s sleep. Come dawn, the unnatural fog lifted for the first time in weeks. Drowning Wallace—city of darkness—burst into celebration.
But even in daylight, their path veered toward peril. The party armed themselves with potions and holy water, then turned willingly toward the heart of the beast: the vampire district. There, amidst towered mansions with no windows and doors thirty feet high, they met Elspeth.
She had once shared Scorn’s bed and class notes. Now she greeted him with ancient eyes and insisted on truth—magical disguises discarded. What passed between them behind that doorway remains uncertain, but one thing was clear.
The next stage of their hunt had begun.

Hello, I’m the first one. What’s up, my homise? I can get in the USB audio plugging in sound. Did you break something? Well, is everybody ready? Is Blueberry not joining us? Blueberry won’t be joining us anymore, unfortunately. They’ve had some scheduling conflicts come up. Oh, no! Ah, that’s a bummer. They need to fix my audio. We’re down to three. If you know anyone who would be interested in playing, if you refer them, you’ll both get a free session. Gotcha. Hello. Hello. Okay. There you go. Well, how’s everybody doing today? Good, good. I’m well. I’m not sure about my camera today. All right. Does not want to work at all. Turn it off, turn it back on again, see what happens. Oh, gosh. And I think nope, still not working or it’s not. I’m gonna check my discord settings. I don’t know if I’m gonna be able to play if I can’t see that beautiful face. Ah, you’ll manage. And the test video shows nothing. Okay. Wow. Nah, it’s just a fail. Now let’s try something else.
Okay, there we go. There he is. Alright. So we’ve lost two now. Yep. There was somebody new in the server earlier. Are they joining us sometime in the future? They’re going on to my Sunday game. Ah, okay. You have a bunch of different private channels for your other games? Yeah. Got you. Alright. So it’ll be everyone can see what happens in general, and then in the private channels, there’ll be each game. They’re all in the same universe, though, right? Yeah, all in the same setting. Oh, that’s fun. So it’s possible for you guys to stumble across each other and things that you’re doing. We’re going to have like an endgame-ass-esque final arc. I once had one group of adventurers. One was an evil party, one was a good party, and they were trying to hunt each other down, and neither of them knew that they were actually going against another party. That’s fun. So you like what? You used what they did, like, in a session. You’re like, oh, yeah, this is what the group is up to. Yeah, and they’d hear rumors about stuff. Are you doing shots? This is sipping rum. You don’t shoot it. Oh, okay. I’m sipping rum. That’s fun. Yeah. They didn’t have the good stuff. I just got the slightly better than average stuff. Next time. Next time. It’s like those memes where it’s like they’ll miss a random ass person, but today it’s damn. I miss Blueberry. I’m going to have a drink now. I saw one that was just like, I’m missing Amelia and Earhart. I’m missing Amelia Earhart like a motherfucker. I gotta have a drink. So, for the recap, we’re gonna go over briefly what happened last time. We walked 30 feet. What? At some point, we did, yes. In a story, in a story context. So, last time, I believe I posted the recap in the chat. So, I won’t go over it too much since you can read it yourselves. But you arrived in drowning Wallace, and discovering that the city is overrun with vampires and ghouls. Now, the vampires and ghouls are two different groups. The vampires are more of a higher undead who only drink blood, and the ghouls are known to consume all the flesh they can find. And that’s not good. We’re made of flesh. Yeah. You found the Great Library, and in there, you have begun to request Tomes to learn about the hidden temple underneath the city. Now, you went back to where you had first met a fisherman’s hut. He sold fishing gear, and you went back to his store only to find the door had been broken open, and he had been torn to shreds while trying to fix it. You followed the trail to a sewer grate, which leads you to where you are now, standing above the sewer, waiting to descend. What are we going to say happened to Blueberry? For now, Blueberry has gone back to the tavern, being disturbed by the gruesome sight. She has gone back to hang out with Tom. Looks like it’s just me and you guys again. We know what happens when people hang out with Tom, though. Good one. Oh, man. Is this sewer grate just bloody, or is it like an open sewer grate? Like, an open manhole? It’s bloody, and you can see where it easily will swing open with a little force. Okay.
We should proceed with caution, gentlemen. Indeed. Seems pretty risky. I don’t know. Is there any other precautions we should take before we go in here? I feel like if we go in here, we might be in there for a session or two, if that makes any sense. The reasonable precaution would be to do what Blueberry did. That is true, but. But I’m not known for being entirely reasonable, so we can go down there. We need to kill some time anyway. We got four weeks to kill, waiting for our freaking books. Yeah. Hold on, let me make sure my armor is on. Armor is on. I am equipped, yes. I’m still going to be wielding my long sword, so I’m going to be keeping that 16 AC instead of having my shield equipped. So the shield’s away, but the long sword is. Or no, the greatsword, I mean, isn’t it? Greatsword. Oh, okay. I pry open the sewer grate, and I take a look down. Is it like pitch dark? You see glimmers of light coming from up from in the sewer. You smell spilled blood and rainwater. Anybody have a torch? Let me see what I got. I got a lamp. I can cast light. Well, I want to try something real quick. Light would be good. What do you want to try? Well, yeah, no, light. Yeah, that’ll probably be good for when we need it because I don’t think vampires care much about fire more than they do about light. But let me go ahead. Ooh, I do have a torch. I’m going to take out my torch, and then I’m going to take out, like, my cool Harley-Davidson flick flighter, right? And then I’m going to light it on. And I’m going to throw the. I’m just going to drop the torch down into the sewer. I want to see how deep it goes, and I want to see what it illuminates. As you drop the torch, you see it illuminating a ladder as it falls, tumbling end over end, until it reaches the bottom with a splash and goes out. Okay, alright, so there’s some water. How long did it take to get down there? About 10 seconds. Um. 10 seconds. That’s a long fall. That is a very long fall. Alright, well, I guess I’ll head first since. I mean, I feel like I always get volunteered to go first unless any of you, unless either of you want to go first. I’m a squishy wizard. I don’t want to go first. I mean, you look pretty lean, Aldric, but sure, you’re squishy. I mean, yeah, I guess you are squishy. If it goes ahead and lowers his body down into the sewer. As you descend into the sewer, the smell grows stronger. And so does the quiet. You didn’t realize how many sounds of life there were in the city until you get to the sewer, and it’s just the sound of moving water. Not a breath to be heard. People flushing their abode. Um. Aldric, how does your light spell work? Is it like something you can. Is it a cantrip? Are you limited in the way on how you do it? Yeah, it’s a cantrip. I’ve just put the detail in the porch thing. Okay. Alright, cool. I feel like go ahead and light up your… I would cast that because there’s a lot of water down here. How deep is the water when we hit it? The water is about six inches deep. You’ll see the topwork floating. How far down is it? Around 45 feet. 45 feet. Okay. Wow. We’re deep underground. We are. They say there’s points down here of, you know, the city that was here before drowning Wallace. How far? I mean, how far away are we from the library? Because if you think about it, the library is really deep, too. Yeah. We might come across that if we stay, if this thing is large enough. Anything could happen. You’re about two or three miles away from the library. Okay. But you don’t know how far these sewers extend. Well, good thing Blueberry didn’t come.
So, what did we track the blood trail to this grate? Or how the blood trail to the grate? That’s kind of what I thought. Okay. Well. Huh. Guys, it seems like the main sewer, there’s like some paths over here. This is weird. Yeah, there’s some chambers off to one side. I forgot about how I forgot about them working on the map. It’s been like two sessions. Isn’t it like it’s been like it’s been a while since we’ve been able to move around? Yeah. Yeah, maybe we could take a look in here. I think that’s a great. Yeah. Oh, we could go around it. Okay. Okay, good. And there is a door at the second passage, the little one here. This one here. Yeah, there’s a door right there. Want to take a look at it? It’s unlocked. It’s unlocked. Oh, is that a torch? Oh. Okay. As you walk through the passage, you hear shuffling. Not us, is it? That could be anything. Yeah, rats, you know, homeless. Whatever. You know, despite everything, Drowning Wallace has a pretty nice sewer system. You know, not a lot of cities are this well adapted. I have to say, this is one part of the city I did not see. No. How bad does it smell down here? It’s surprisingly not as terrible as it would seem. Ooh. It seems to be mostly a storm drain and not as much of a sewer. Ah, got you. Okay. Well, thank God. Thank God whatever we’re tracking didn’t decide to go into a sewer. Pardon me. So what was that thing on the opposite on my opposite side? No. That was the torch, was it? Oh, there’s a light source here, apparently. Yes, there are certain lights scattered throughout the sewers, illuminating certain areas. Oh. Are they conventional? Are they flames? Or are they like magical lights? They are magical flames. Torches that glow that burn and it seems like this place isn’t like per se abandoned. I feel like if there’s anything about this, it’s like this seems like a maintained place. I’m inclined to agree. There’s a path over there, and then there’s a door over here to the top right. There’s a path leading down here between the sewer wall, between the drain walls. And I’m not sure where it goes. You want to go down there first? No, but I’m going to. And now Ibbit is on top of my counter. Okay. It’s not letting me go down here. Visible wall? It says I’m hitting a wall, and I don’t see it, but you know. Maybe it’s. Yeah, I can’t move really near. Can’t move down there at all. So this passage here I’m not going down there, I guess. What you’re seeing there is there is a large ledge with a passageway above. Oh, okay. So this is below. This is above. Yeah. Ah, I got you. Different levels. So we’ll just go. We’ll just go around. As you walk through, the sounds of shuffling get louder. I ready my staff. I’m going to try this door over here. Ooh! You open the door and something lunges at you. Can I roll something to have a reaction that may better my outcome right here? Are we rolling for initiative? I don’t know. I mean, I don’t. I feel like this guy may have surprised me. Can I roll like dexterity or something to have gotten down?
Distant from this thing as it lunges for me. Roll dexterity to try and jump away. Alright, I’m gonna do it as a saving throw. What did I get? Hold on. My hotbar isn’t open. And eight. I did not get away. You stumble backwards, and it grabs you. Roll initiative. Okay, here we go. Holy crap, really? My initiative. Yeah, there we go. Roll an initiative. What? Alright. Two 19s and a 20, and then there’s me. You see Ipet open the door, and immediately a creature lunges at him with long, bloody claws. How do you react? Who’s first? Me? You. Oh, uh, ah, and he’s kind of in the way. That’s not good. Oh, uh, I could try and this sucks. Okay. Yeah, we’re doing this. Um, maybe able to hold your firebolt, firebolt it up here and firebolt. Let’s see. Okay, here we go. How did I do? Oh, I got a dirty 20 with firebolt. Okay. So, damage. Damage incoming. Did it hit? Yes. Okay. That’s great. 17 points of fire damage to the ghoul. And I will. I’ve got 20 feet of movement left. I’m going to back off a bit. Ipet, shut the damn door, will you? I can’t. I’m last in the initiative. I don’t know what you’re talking about. I mean, I look at the camera. There’s no camera. I’ll look at the fourth wall. What’s that? Yeah. Alright, Aldrich. It’s my turn. Oh, I will. I forgot. Bardic inspiration for Ipet. Because God is going to need it. Aldrich Fireball. Yes! Aldrich casting chromatic orb as I could choose fire as one of them, right? It’s going to choose fire. Alright. Nice. You hit. How come your spells always have cool stuff? And when I, like, do a spell, it’s just nothing. Arcane Wizardry. Roll damage. Some damages. Ouch. Fire damage. You hit it with the chromatic orb, and then it moves forward. Do you have anything else on your turn? No, that’s me. That’s me. Alright. Ipid, as it lunges towards you, it goes and tries to shove you off the ledge down into the channel. Make a strength-saving throw. Ooh. You walked into the wrong room, mother trucker. Really? Yep, really. It pushes you off the ledge and you land prone. Ah, guys, it’s just that I didn’t have my legs, my stance. I was. You do have bardic inspiration now. I’m going to save that for a bit. I haven’t taken any damage. At least I’m prone. So it would take me the whole action to get up, though, right? Now that I’m prone. Half your movement. Oh, half my movement. Okay. That’s fine then. Does he do anything else? Yes, he leaps down and begins clawing you. That’s not nice. He leaps down on top of you.
Ah, multi-attachment. What? Oh my god. Look at the thing. Look at the multi-attach. Okay. He sends me three PDFs. Begins clawing at you again and again, but fortunately, you remembered to put on your armor. I did. Yeah. Now, Ipid, it is your turn. Ghoul standing over you. Flat on your ass. Ipet’s going to take half his movement to get up, but that’s fine because he doesn’t plan on moving anymore after this. Ipit stands up with a great rage in his heart, for this is the first thing he’s been able to hurt ever since Pappy’s death. So, um, um, he’s gonna go ahead and take a swing, just a regular swing, actually, for right now. He’s gonna go ahead and take a swing with his greatsword. Unfortunately, I’m still learning to handle the great sword, and it’s not going well. My first swing is a complete miss, and I go for my second attack. My fiancĂ© just laughed at me. A 10! What’s my bardic inspiration? It’s a D8. It’ll probably put you over the top on this one, but I don’t make any guarantees. I’m gonna use 17. With the guidance of Scorn, you managed to get the unwieldy sword under your command and strike. What song did you whisper in my ear for me to be motivated to do this? I am not sure. You heard Scorn muttering, we can’t take him anywhere. All right, that’s gonna be a nine damage, but as a bonus attack, and I apologize for this, guys, but I completely forgot that as my paladin, I have a use of divine smite that doesn’t use up a spell slot, nor does it need to be prepared. So I’m gonna use the strength from my god Bahamut is gonna go ahead and let me do this as a divine smite for my bonus action. Is this a fiend or undead? It isn’t undead. Cool. Perfect. Glad I’m here. So that’s going to be an eight on that damage. Oh, actually. I completely forgot about my reckless fighting. Would you like to use it now? Yeah, I’m going to do it with my greatsword. I’ll take the better of the two. Alright. So that was an 11. Alright. So we’ll do that eight damage for the divine smite and that 11 damage with my greatsword. You cleave deep into it, driven with divine fury. Yes. Thank you, Wild with spectral rage as it claws out towards you. Wow. That was a tough ghoul. Yeah, I know. I mean, we’ve been pretty. This thing has taken two big hours. We would wail it on him. Scorn, it is your turn. Uh-huh. Well, the last one worked well enough. I’ll move up here. And I will firebolt him again. Push. Now, it’s a miss, I think. You fire off. That’s not going to be a firebolt at him, but it goes over his head. It illuminates the blood on his claws. Okay. That’s all for now. Make a perception check. Ooh. Okay. Something’s going on.
Overall, I only got a sixteen You notice another ghoul sneaking up behind you find me Okay is infested all right Aldric, it’s your turn Aldric died just going to do another chromatic orb this time I’ll do acid sorry my wife came into the room there you hit it with another chromatic orb this one searing its flesh with the burning liquids the damage coming up whoa good one seventeen thank you as you hit this ghoul with the ball of acid you see it flailing as its jaw melts off and it collapses into a heap this happens like right in front of me so if it’s like oh he like backs up you have anything else to do on your turn um I’ll step towards or yeah towards Ipid five feet like that that’s it the other ghoul has come around the corner and comes up on scorn and attacks bring it I mean uh oops reaches out towards you with its claws clinging towards your flesh you step too fast it attacks again it fails to get you with its right hand but gets you with the left okay hellish rebuke gonna use my reaction and cook him see this one this one is without a spell slot yeah there we go let’s see um damage there’s my damage boom this is very average oh yeah as the ghoul attacks you hitting you with its claws your flames reach out and burn it which damage do the claws do ow 11 damage these things hit hard ouch okay now ipid it is your turn having just seen one die there is another one this one equally vengeant its eyes glowing red ipid isn’t too fond of these guys um ipid’s gonna go ahead and push past aldrich and go side by side or like flanking scorn so that we got this guy kind of cornered up and um you know a lot of my spells aren’t really that flashy i’m just a guy who hits stuff so i’m gonna go ahead and swing my greatsword at this thing it’s a it’s a really it’s a really big difference since my the last campaign i played i was a bard so i was able to do a bunch of fun stuff so
That’s a 22 to hits. I’m gonna do some damage. It’s an 11 damage on my first attack. And then I’m gonna go ahead and do my second attack. 13 does not hit. Does that hit? Does not hit. Alright. Okay, in that case, I’m gonna go ahead and roll for my first attack again then. I want to see if I get a higher damage. 11 again, so it doesn’t matter. Um, da-da-da. Um, I think. Actually, hold on. Actually, I’ll save that for later. Yeah, that’s gonna go ahead and be Ipid’s turn. Scorn, it is your turn. You have just seen this ghoul attacked by Ipid, flailing and its eyes burning. Oh, yeah. Um, True Strike is my friend. Uh, let’s see. I got a staff for this. Where’s my staff? There we go. The quarter staff with True Strike. There it is. Okay, let’s see. Two-handed. Yep. 17 hit him. It hits. Alright. So that is a D8 and a D6 for True Strike. Plus my charisma score. Thought I had this set up better than this. Okay. Yeah, there we go. Um, alright. There it is. Ooh. You hit it for 17 damage and it goes reeling. Its eyes whipping towards you. Nice. Watch as small sparks jump from its eyes as it glares at you. Ask him if he wants another one. Aldric, it is your turn. Or do you want to do a bardic inspiration scorn? No, I. There’s one ghoul left. I don’t think we’ll need it real bad. So, I’m all done. Alright, Aldric, what will you do? Aldric is gonna create a bonfire for a bit of a change. He’s getting bored throwing these chematic orbs at people, so he’s like, I need to make some fire that lasts a bit. So he’s gonna create a bonfire over here, trying not, if possible, not to get the other guys. Could I place it like that, for example? Yes. Yeah. Yeah, so I need he needs to make a DC-15 dexterity saving throw. Oh, he manages to make the saving throw. He is well aligned with fire. Um Aldric’s gonna move to beside Ipid, and that’s it. That’s his turn. Ipid, you’ve caught the ghoul’s attention. I’m sure I have. Attacks you with its claws, but your armor is still proving good. Ah, you suck! Then it turns to attack Scorn. Oh no! Needer here.
Just missed. Let me see 15. It was close. It burned. Cursing in some strange tongue you do not recognize. What? It speaks. Okay. Ipid, it is your turn. Um, something that hasn’t been pretty open. I haven’t been. I forgot to read about this because forgery doesn’t do a good job at it, but I looked at DD. I’m proficient, or I’m mastery with greatswords. I picked that when I made my character. And I have graze. If your attack roll with a greatsword misses a creature, you can deal damage to it equal to the ability modifier used to make the attack. This damage is the same type dealt by the greatsword and can only be increased by increasing the ability modifier. I’m saying that because I have forgotten that up until this point. So now that I’ve said it into the open, if this ever slips my mind, I need you guys to remind me because I can be stupid at times. Alright. Oh no, I don’t want to use my longsword. I’m going to use my greatsword. You say you can do that every time you miss? It does. Yeah, I guess so. If you’re attacking the greatsword misses, there’s no limit or anything that I can tell. But it’s only my ability modifier, which what would that be? I’m looking at. I’m looking for that right now. I want to make sure that it’s not. What’s your strength? My strength is. You’re plus three. So you’ll do three damage when you miss. There you go. Okay, cool. Hey, that’s better than nothing. You know, if I’m guaranteed three damage every time I miss, I’ll take it. Alright, so, um, yeah, no, if it’s gonna go ahead and try to strike this thing once again. 12. That doesn’t hit. But it does three damage. Heyo! I graze him a bit. You swing at it, cut him, just taking off a bit of flesh from underneath its right eye. I’m gonna go ahead and swing again. 17. That hits. I’m gonna go ahead and roll damage. I’m gonna roll damage twice. I’ll take the 14. You cut off one of its arms and it’s leaning towards you, still holding on with undead fury. Good lord. This thing’s tough. Aw. Will you do anything else on your turn? Nah, I’m gonna wrap it up with that. I don’t wanna waste anything flashy on the one guy. Alright, Scorn. You’ve just watched this ghoul lose an arm and keep fighting. What do you do? What? Tell him it’s just a flesh wound. Okay. It’s just a flesh wound. Yeah, I like True Strike. The quarter staff with the True Strike on it is doing well enough for me. We’ll try that again. How’s a 16? That hits. Okay. And the damage is a lot. You swing down with your staff, crushing the chest of the ghoul. And it falters and crumbles to the ground, unmoving. Man. You notice the fingers on the severed arm twitch. That’s not a skull. I can’t take it with me. Not taking it. If it goes up to score and you pats him on the shoulder, he’s like, you know, despite everything, you’re as fierce as any other soldier that I’ve fought alongside. You’re a good warrior. Well, I mean, it was trying to eat me. I know, but I’m just saying, you know, a lot of people could. I mean, think about how many things this thing has eaten. And you weren’t eaten. So, I mean, hey, I feel like that’s good prop. Are there any more? You do not see any more. Okay. What on earth did you find, Ipid? I don’t know. It was just behind that door. Dude, wait.
Can we like does anybody know exactly what these things are? Like they’re animated corpses with an appetite for living flesh. I guess Ultric will move to the first dead body and have a look and see. Is there anything interesting you can see from the body? I guess there’s some kind of walking dead. As you examine it, you see this isn’t a normal undead. Its claws have grown straight from the bones of its fingers into sharper points. Long and jagged, its hands are constantly bleeding from the extending bones. Its shoulders are shrunken, and its eyes still burn even as it’s dead. Oof, yeah. Aldric, have you seen anything like this before? I don’t think so. No. Would Aldric have seen anything like that? I don’t think so. Roll history. History. Also, quick check-in. Did any of us take damage during that fight? Me. Oh, I took 11 points of damage. That’s not bad. Not very good either. It was all for it. It was in one hit. Oof. Yeah, you know what? I’m glad they didn’t land more on us, or else that would have been pretty bad. Ooh, 22, history. Nice. Aldric, you remember in one of the ancient texts of a temple, rumors of a cult deep with underneath the city of Drowning Wallace that had dedicated themselves to the pursuit of endless life. They were connected to many others around these areas, but these ones had a particular concept of undeath. Instead of pursuing revival, they believed that the key tenant of life was hunger, and that if you could inspire an endless hunger in the dead, they would never die. They would rise up in new life and seek out anything they are commanded to. That’s dumb. I don’t know, but it may sound crazy, but I think we’re on the right track. I mean, if it’s connected to the temple we’re looking for, then we may be close. Yeah, and I mean, who knows if it’s even like a temple, you know? If anything, we know this might just be like it might just be built apart of like under the city. Like, we might not see it as a traditional temple. It might just be a storm dream, you know? Yeah. I mean, the cult leader may be operating out of his mother’s basement. That too. Imagine if we go through the entire world and then we end up finding whoever is the cause of all this, and he’s just at his mom’s house in the basement. Evil loves the underground. Okay. Anything else in this room? Another door. Should I open this this time? I’m going to go over to the door and listen to the door. Yeah, that’s fair. You hear the slow trickle of water on the other side, and you don’t hear anything moving. I hear he was going to give it to you. He didn’t roll. Maybe I do hear that, but I fail to hear the 30 ghouls yowling in hunger. Don’t know. So, Scorn’s going to open the door. Hope for the best. Anything leaping out at me? Trying to make me into a snack. You open the door, and then a ghoul comes down upon you. Oh my god. Here we go again. Close the door, close the door. Do I need to roll for initiative, or does my old score still count? Okay, we’re rolling. Ghouls. You. That could be better. Nice. It goes last. Don’t worry, guys. We’re good.
Alright, Scorn, you open the door and you immediately see a ghoul on the other side. How do you respond? Um, I am going to shut the door because that makes sense. Yeah, just shut the dang door. And he’s he’s he’s up against the door holding it, and he’s like, we got to stop opening these doors because ghoul’s behind all of them. You know, I’m glad, you know, I feel like we need a good reign, or else these guys might be able to be washed out. And that’s all for now. I’m going to just hold the door with my mighty eight strength. Ipid seeing Scorn hold the door. Um Ipid’s gonna I’m gonna look at score and I’m like, Scorn, what are we supposed to do now? Like, that guy’s I’m not sure. Has it been a has it been aggressive to the door? Like, did it just do we just close the door, and is it just like, oh, well. You close the door and you hear it pounding. Okay. I’m gonna look at Scorn. I’m gonna be like, I think I might be better off holding that door down while you guys figure something out. Yeah, or you could, you know, get ready to attack when it gets through. Yeah, yeah, that too, if we want to do that. So, like, if I prepare for this, will I be better off? If I prepare to lunge at this thing when it shows up, will I have something better than just a regular attack? No, just a regular attack. Okay. I think I can. Alright, I’m going to use one of. I’m going to use one of my divinity charges, and I’m going to go ahead and make my weapon into a sacred weapon for 10 minutes. I can add my charisma modifier to attack rolls with that weapon, minimum bonus. Each time you hit with it, you cause it to deal a normal damage type or radiant damage. I’m going to use this ability. Place item here to enchant. Oh, that’s fun. There you go. Items that are already magical cannot be enchanted. Cool. Oh. Oh, man. If it’s going to look up at Buhamud and be like, never mind, and I’m going to refund my resource. Because even with that sacred weapon thing, my other weapons wouldn’t probably be better off with this thing. Yeah, no, he’s just going to get ready for an attack. There’s not much else I can do. I stand at the ready. Great sword. Wielding great sword. And I look over at Scorn, and I’m like, when you’re ready, Scorn’s just pointing over here. You want me to stand there? Oh, I’m guessing the door opens left, but I could be wrong. Yeah. Either way, you get the hell out of the way when the thing opens. Right up here, and yeah, when he comes through, you can nail him. Alright, Aldric, you’ve seen them. You saw Scorn open the door, look a ghoul in the eyes, and slam it shut. Aldrich’s like, what are we doing, guys? Stand next to me in case something happens. When a ghoul busts down a door, we’re going to bambooz him. That’s it.
Yeah, all right, so here that wall to the north of you when you get when you when it tries to get through move out of the way. I’m gonna like lunge at it with my sword, and I’m gonna try to pin it to that wall. Yeah, Aldric, you go to the north of that wall. Like, hold on, I could just press to show you. Um, how the hell do I just see your little green? Yeah, here, go here, go here. Uh, stand there, all right? And that’s where that’s what he means. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Stand there, and that wall to the area to the right of you. I’m gonna try to push him and lunge him and kind of like stick him to the wall with my sword and keep him in that place. You want me to be close to this thing? Well, I mean, you’ll be able to do some damage on him, I would hope. All right, okay, I got an idea. Or you could help me keep him down, you know, like so. I guess. Look, at this point, since Scorn decided to close the door, which I’m not blaming you for, we gotta, like, Scooby-Doo trap this guy. Like, who’s got the big sheet? Who’s got the rope? Could I hold a spell as an action? Yes, but you need to maintain concentration until you cast the spell. What does that mean? So, you know how you concentrate on some spells? When you cast a spell as a hold action, you cast it on your turn, and you maintain concentration until you cast it as a reaction. Alright, okay. I’ll try that. Try that. Try it out. Me and Scorn will try to be on top of this ghoul enough so that it won’t bother you while you get your spell prepared. But it doesn’t have to be a concentration spell, does it? It’s just I’m using my concentration. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it’s just going to be a burning hands first level into the corner of the room. Something like that. Hey, I mean, yeah, that works. If this goes through how it’s planned, we will be able to get this guy pretty quick. Yeah, so Aldric’s holding for this plan to go off. You hear the ghoul running as quickly as it can. Running away? I think he’s going to run into the door. He might be charging the door or he might be running away. I’m not certain. Oh, look at this. Oh, boy. Wait, what? Oh, God. He did an end run, literally. Okay. If it is tunnel vision. If it are locked in. They’re ready for this thing to come through the door. And Scorn. As you’re holding the door as strong as you can, you see it come around the other side. Okay. Is it doing anything else, or did it use its whole turn getting there? Use its whole turn getting there. Scorn, it is your turn. Honey, I’m home. Um. Bloody hell. Okay. Uh. Or look, Scorn, open the door. Come on, Scorn. Open the door now. Scorn, let him out. I’m ready for this asshole. He’s just gonna be, he’s just gonna come get us on the other side. We’re not gonna block him off this way. I um I’m gonna firebolt him. Scorn, what are you doing? Scorn shots. Oh! You’re not gonna fool me that way. Firebolt. Iffy. As he runs through the door, you shoot a firebolt right above his head. An intimidating gesture, to be sure. We look at what you did, and we’re like, whoa, where’d that guy come from? And for my object interaction.
I will open the door. I’d probably move out of the way, too. And yeah. Move out of. I hit a wall. I hit a wall. Okay. You’re going to go in there? Yeah, I’m going in. Oh, he’s not in there anymore. And Aldric, you have to still use your reaction now that you’ve noticed the ghoul. Alright. Could I turn around with it with my action and like as I turn around kind of be like panicked and go clasp with my hands this burning fire towards him. Yes. You whip around in a blind panic shooting flames from your fingertips. Not blind, right? I’m right here. So he’s like, he’s like, Scorn, what are you doing? Ah! And the spoken is tools off. Follow the firebolt. Yeah. So that’s a DC 14 deck start to see him throw. He makes it. He manages to make the saving throw. He’s on his toes. That’ll do. Does that do half damage? It does do half damage. Yeah. Okay. It’s the first level. Let’s. Let’s do that. Oh, not too bad. Could be worse. The flames. It glares at you. Aldrich’s like, Scorn, where are you going? And do I have movement? No, not until your turn. Oh, it’s not my turn, my actual turn. Okay. Yeah, fine. Now, Ipid, it is your turn. So after seeing him do that and seeing Scorn run away, after he just complimented him on being a fierce warrior, Ipid’s gonna go ahead and run up on this douchebag. Ipid isn’t the types that say douchebag. I need to get more in mind with this guy. He’s gonna go ahead and swing with his great sword once more. Oh my gosh, what are you doing? That’s a 22. That hits. I’m gonna roll damage. I’ll roll damage twice just to get this one out of the lane. That’s a 12 damage for my first hit. And then I’m gonna use my second attack. Another 22. Alright. Oops. Again. Well, damage. 15 damage. And I’m gonna go ahead and put a little stank on it. Let’s see here. What do I got? I’m gonna be doing this with a. I’m gonna be casting as a bonus action divine favor. I don’t know if could I have casted this for something where it was just like could this have been applied to the attack that I made? Because I meant to do this, but I forgot. Because it just, um, uh, your attacks with weapons deal with an extra 1d4 radiant damage on a hit. Yeah. So just roll 2d4. Okay, bet. Say less. Um. Yeah, I guess, like, yeah, before I ran up on this guy, I was like, Bahamas, give me strength! And I get two pretty decent hits, and then I do. Wow! He gives me three extra strength, but that’s a total of what? 15 plus 12 plus 3. He’s pissed at you for your comments about the sacred weapon. Yeah. Is he? Probably. It’s like you greedy bastard. Aldric, it’s your turn. You’ve been startled by a ghoul. You’ve shot it with fire and it.
Rushed in. What do you do now? I’m going to move towards the door, see if I can see anything. That’s about ten feet that way. Yeah. I’m going to move towards the door, see if I can see what’s going on with Scorn. Oh. Is the door closed now? Oh. Let me try. Yeah, you have to go straight through the door, otherwise, you hit the walls. So I’m just going to have a quick look to see what I could see. You see no other ghouls. To the south of you, you see a large basin, and to the north, a hallway leads deeper into the dark along the channels. Okay, Aldrich’s like, Scorn, come back. And uh, could I still go back into the room? Yeah. Still got movement. And uh, just another bonfire. Hey, when did I get hit? I’m at 31 health. Don’t know. I don’t think you got hit. You might have just been at 31 health. No, but I like literally, like, the main reason I brought up, hey, did any of us get hit? Was because I was at like full health in the last encounter. I don’t remember getting hit this one. I’ll just bump you up to full health. There we go. Guys, they’re just lying. I’m joking. So for the ghoul, that’s another dexterity. You save him throw 15. This guy loves his fire. Aldrich loves fire. Gulls. And pockets. That’s 11. It’s pretty high. Did really well in that role. The ghoul, having been burned, runs around Ibid and attacks from behind. Wink. I wish you would. Ooh. Why did I wish? Nothing. I ain’t nothing. Okay. He attacks twice. One hitting deep and the other just glancing off of your armor. Deep. Come on now. Let’s be honest. That ain’t shit. If it’s like, it’s all you got. Now, Scorn, it’s your turn. You’ve heard quite the commotion since running out of the room. Well, I just, you know, duck back in here. And uh, uh, right there. Like, I’m just still with you, Aldrich. Quit worrying. And I’m going to firebolt him again. Fireball’s here. Firebolt. Firebolt is a cantrip and it not working worth a crap today. Yeah, that’s not good at all. Okay. And I’ll, you know, do the sensible thing and take cover again. He walks back into the room, misses, leaves again. Will you do anything else on your turn? Oh, it’s just one ghoul. I think I’ll leave. I’m just going to let it go. He takes out his flask and he takes a sip. If it is your turn again, if it’s going to go ahead and hopefully this thing is close to dying, so he’s going to go ahead and swing again, keeping in mind my divine favor. So that’s going to be an additional D4 on top of whatever I do now. I miss my first attack, but that’s going to be three damage with that graze.
I’m gonna do my second attack. That’s a nine, so three damage on a graze. And my divine paper doesn’t work because it technically wasn’t a hit. Will you do anything else on your turn after swinging again and again, just taking off little bits of flesh? I can’t push him, can I? Um no, I think that’s it. Aldric. You’ve seen Ipid keeping the ghoul at bay with his sword. What do you do? Aldric’s like, I thought fire would have killed him by now. And he’s just gonna drop the bonfire that’s over there and create another one in the space of the ghoul again. So I need to drop the concentrate. So is it can I just freely drop that concentration on the other one? Yes. Yeah. So let me do that. He’s like, I thought fire would have burned this guy’s flesh off a long time ago. He doesn’t understand why it’s not. And then he puts another one there. Ells is saving throw again. Roll damage. Awesome. Same thing again. 11. As the ghoul’s flesh burns, it smells oddly like what you had for dinner last night. Aldric’s gonna be like, Where’s where’s Scorn? Worried again. And move into the hall. Ipid looks over, like, what the hell? Scorn, scorn. That’s my turn. The ghoul backed up against the wall begins to attack with an undying rage, throwing the last bit of its strength at you. No. Does it stop trying to hit me when I say no? It does not. Not cool. Ooh, little baby missed. Ooh, little big baby hit. I feel like there’s good character development here. I feel like every fight we’ve gotten into, Ip it has gotten too close to dying. The ghoul managed to get away from it. I like look down at my wound and I look up at it and I was like, big mistake, asshole. Scorn, it is your turn again as you sit in the hallway. Okay. I gotta get through the door, but Aldric is kind of in the way. Oh, sorry. I’m doing stuff that is breaking. So, right there. Oh, this is getting ridiculous. Um, dissonant whispers sounds good. Actually, burn a spell slot against this damn thing. Here we go. That would be a DC-15 wisdom save. Half damage if he saves successfully. That is some weak damage. However, he has failed. Uh, and let me put dissonant whispers in the chat here. How do I? Oh. Here we go. Found it. View. Um. It’s not putting it in the chat. Crap.
I gotta figure out how to do this. What are you doing? I’m trying to put Disney Whispers in the chat so you can see what it does. But, um. Oh, display in chat. Yes, that’s the one. Okay, obviously. Okay, so he’s failed to save. He takes nine points of psychic damage. Must immediately use his reaction to move as far away from you as he can. So the ghoul is leaving. This might give Ipid an opportunity attack. Ipid, you do get an opportunity attack as it’s running away. Beautiful. Oh, and I’m going back out in the hallway. Or not. The door is closed. Why is it working? I miss. It runs. Three points of damage. You hear the ghoul stop running. And the water drips loudly. Ipid. Do you chase it down? Um. It would take like all my movement to get there. Nope, just enough. If it’s going to move his fine ass over there. He’s going to. And he’s going to run. He’s just like, um. If it’s really angry. And he’s like, you don’t get to have any mercy from me. And he’s going to go ahead and swing. 17. That hits. You whip the sword over your head and come down on him. Cool. Ooh, the D4 is automatically added to this. Perfect. So that is a 14 damage. I’m going to roll again, and I’m going to take the better of the two. I’ll take that 22 damage for my first hit. And I’m going to use my second attack now. And eight misses. Or that was actually a natural one. So after running up, you swing overhead and cleave it in half, but not realizing you cut it down, you swing again through the air after it has fallen. But I graze it anyway. Guys, I got it. You okay there, Ipid? Yes, do you need a healing potion? Um, no, save it. I’ll go ahead and um. Oh. I’ll go ahead and have Bahamut help me out here. Ipit’s gonna go ahead and give himself. Hold on. I always forget how much I have. 30. I’m gonna give myself 10 lay on hands. Are we out of initiative? Yes. Aldrich’s gonna wander over to Ipit. Towards Ipit and say. You got kind of angry there, buddy. Are you okay? I don’t like these ghouls. I don’t like that Papy’s dead. I don’t know whatever the hell Blueberry’s doing in that bar with Tom. I’m not. It’s been an irritating travel. I don’t know. I’m getting pretty frustrated, but I’m fine. I mean, Blue Gear. She’s a grown woman. Is she? Do we know that? She’s not terribly short for a hapling, but I’m going to drink a healing potion. I mean, yeah, aside from potions, do any of you guys need any heals from coming from Big Ray? Big E. That’s kind of weak, but I’ll take it. So I’m at 34 out of 39. I’m better off than I was. You know, I could heal you, Scorn. It’s just. I don’t want to use up all those spells, you know. Yeah, save them for killing ghouls. I think you’re going to need them. Yeah. Oh, yes. I don’t know if we’re getting anywhere here. Okay. So what do I see out here? I see.
Leading up into the dark, another long tunnel. And there’s one here too. Yes, to the wet. To the east, you see another tunnel leading to where it goes both north and south. Wow, man. To the south, there is a large basin where water can collect. Um, I’m not sure which way we should go from here. What do you guys think to the north? There, does that wall end? No, it continues on into darkness further than you can see. Sounds like there are three options. I mean, let’s we can we can leave it to a group decision. I hate to be that guy, but I feel like I’ve been making a lot of initiative rulings in regards to our adventuring. I don’t want to micromanage the basin. Okay, he’s going. Yeah, I guess. Can you shine a light over here? Thanks. Okay, light. Oh, wow, this is there’s a lot here. The basin is empty. This would be this would be good for like an underground fight club. There are bloodstains around the basin from where the ghouls have been feasting, but no, like body parts and don’t leave anything wasted. Not even the bones. Okay. Uldrick’s a little bit disappointed in the back of his mind. I’m not going down here. I’m going to stop right here and I’m going to listen for a moment. You hear off in the distance slurping and crunching of the ghouls feasting on something. Oh, can I tell which direction it’s coming from? Is it this way? From the north and the south. Okay. I can hear them. I can hear him. I can hear him eating. That way and that way. Oh, God. I just swore off Roast Boar forever. Awesome. So we got ghouls north, ghouls south. Should we go east? Yeah, let’s avoid any conflict as of right now, but we know where they are, so that’s good to know. I think so. What do I see here? Another uh sluice. Another channel. Another channel. This one is dry. Okay. Right. So this is this is gonna be hard to get through. Unless we bend the bars or something. Hmm. How hard are these bars? Don’t know. They are steel. If it cracks his knuckles. They’re really old, you know. Let me go ahead and give these a thing. Let me go ahead and give these a shot. And I’m just gonna go ahead and older’s just gonna say, yeah, you got this and give you guidance. Ooh, I think you can do it. Okay, you got it. Alright, thank you. And if it’s gonna go ahead. Alright. So strength, if it’s your strength, he’s gonna guide your strength and give you a D4. You roll the D4. Yep. It’s not good. You grab the bars and shake them as hard as you can, and you see a little rush shaking off. And you keep going, and the bars hold firm. But you’re still thinking you can do it. Guys, I got it. I got it. Just go. Yeah, let’s consider going north. Fine.
Ipid looks pretty sad. It’s understandable. Dude, I have a 16 strength. It’s my highest ability score. Any sounds this way? As you go north, the slurping gets a little louder. Sounds like what was coming from Scorn’s bedroom last night. I don’t know what you’re talking about. As I recall, knocking on his door in the morning. She’s not here, I swear. The thing is, he was telling the truth. That’s why he was so upset. Do we see anything in this? Oh, you see a dead end just with little stains here and there. I’ve never been so happy to see a dead end. This right here, what am I looking at here? You are looking at where the wall ends. It looks like there’s an alcove there, and I’m not sure why. We’ll examine that. You can see where this was a favorite spot for a ghoul to eat. The ground is thickly stained and sticky. I’m walking backwards now. Scorn, get out of that corner, man. These creatures have no manners. Oh, what do you expect? So, north then? There was a. In the basin, there was a there was a way south. Did we look at that? Yeah, we have not yet, but you know, it’s there, and I heard a ghoul, you know, eating in that direction. Oh, okay. It’s just all ghouls down here. Does anyone have like a disguise they can put on? Make themselves look like a ghoul. I don’t think that works. I could, but I don’t really want to. I feel like, um, despite what we look like or, you know, act like, I think these guys might still just be after. I feel like they can smell fresh meat. Yeah. Yeah. So, uh, yeah, well, we’re going to go up here and let’s see if we can kill another ghoul. We ghoul number four. We get an auto-save loading screen. We get like that, like Bethesda, like, in the screen where it gives us a tip. Yeah. Don’t dress up as a ghoul. They’ll still smell you. Why am I on empty? You hear a scream echoing from the north. Okay. Oh, wait. That’s from a person. Guys, somebody needs our help. Yep. They do. Ipid reacts. What the hell? Why am I going down? I’m going up. It’s weird. He hears it from north. Ipid’s going to just run towards the sound of somebody needing help. Aldrich, keep up. You’re our light. It’s scary. Don’t be scared, Daldric. You’re with us. Does it sound like we’re going towards the screaming? It does. Ooh. You see three ghouls gathered around. And the screaming continues. Ipet’s going to yell. I’m like, hey, if you want to eat anybody, eat us!
Don’t give them any idea. Can’t they just go around? They’re not that smart. Okay. Can we slow? Yeah, I’m about to say, can we see the body from or whatever they were eating from where we’re standing? You don’t see anything that they were eating from where you are. Huh. They seem following the scream. Oh. Oh. Okay. If we’re gonna get to it, we’ll have to go through them. That’s fine by me. Should we roll initiative or do we do something? Roll initiative. Okay, cool. Um, before we get into this combat, I’m gonna run to the bathroom real quick, all right? Five, yeah, I gotta go piss this out. I’m angry. Yeah, I’ll be back. My initiative just keeps getting worse. Can I just say me too? I’m gonna go do the same thing. Yeah, if you want, we can take a short break. Yeah, like two minutes, three minutes. Yeah, we’ll do five minutes. Yeah. I’ll get coffee while I’m at it. Alright. Are we taking a break? Yeah, we’re taking a break. Got you. Off work late? Hungry, but too tired to cook? Try seven corn dogs, seven corn dogs back to back. No mustard, no ketchup, just dog. Eat the stick, too. You’ll certainly not regret eating seven corn dogs. I love corn dogs. That’s that’s the most appalling thing I’ve heard all day. What about all week? Huh? It’s been a long week, but maybe.
See, I don’t know about seven corn dogs. That’s a lot. I could down seven corn dogs. I think I couldn’t. I’m really hungry. I could hit five, but I think seven’s too much for me. Aldric, how many corn dogs can you eat in one sitting? Oh. I’ve never eaten a corn dog before. You know, I’m British. We don’t have them. Ah, well, imagine you find the greatest bread and stuff it with meat. And it’s the cheapest meat you can buy. It doesn’t really taste all that great, but it’s really greasy. That’s how they used to describe me back in high school. And the size is like a hot dog size with a hot dog. They come in a five-year-old sizes. Normally it’s a hot dog size, but sometimes it’s a foot long. Whoa, really? I can eat one. How many can you guys eat? You guys can eat seven. I could eat seven. Easy. No. You can have mine. You can have mine. Not into hot dogs. When I go to the fair, I get that foot-long hot dog. Come on. Or corn dog. That’s that good stuff, man. Any mustard on it? Any other things? I’ll do ketchup. No mustard. I’m not a big fan of mustard. They’ve got a you know, you go to the fair, you go to the circus, you go to whatever, they’ve got everything you can think of served on a stick. I’m not getting a corn dog. Well, I like to keep it. I like to keep it simple. It’s gonna be simple. I’ll have like fried Snickers on a stick. You’re at that? That’s pretty good. I’ve heard of those. I’ve not tried one, though. Yeah. Anyway, we’re playing D. I think we’re all back. I think we’re all back. Alright, you hear the ghouls on the other side of the grate. And you’ll wonder how long it will be before they decide to climb out of the channel and go around. Aldric’s turn first, right? Yes, Aldric is first. So, Aldric will cast a flame of sphere onto one of those guys, or however many guys you can get it. It’s a concentration. So it’s going to look like somewhere around there. On that first one on the left. Alright. So, any creature that ends its turn within five feet of the sphere makes a dexterity saving throw. Will you do anything else on your turn? No. No. I’m good. Immediately. The ghoul runs from the sphere and climbs around to leap down on Ipid. Cool. Ipid, make a strength-saving throw as the ghoul tries to shove you over. Ah, okay. Holy crap. You fail. You’re knocked back and knocked prone. The ghoul leaps down after you and begins attacking. Doesn’t he get advantage on attacks when I’m prone? Yes. He manages to hit sinking his claws into you past your armor for 11 damage. And he attacks again.
Your armor is proving useful tonight as it repels yet another attack from ghouls. My warrior tribe that I left. One thing they knew about was armor. Now, next ghoul comes running up and around following the example, but this one runs further down and attacks Scorn. Oh dear. He’s gonna make you into corn. He’s welcome to try. Pardon me. We’re gonna use cutting words on that one. I point out that he smells bad and shouldn’t be allowed out in public with unsupervised and he gets a 12 to hit me. He misses with his first attack, confused by your big words. They were so big. He attacks again unsuccessfully. Okay, there goes another part of inspiration. Bye. Alright. The third ghoul comes running after Aldric. He makes his attacks. Yeah, that hits. Hitting with his first attack. Claws deep into Aldric’s robes for eight total damage. I’m glad he got the weakest hit. I’m glad he. He attacks hitting again. Oh. Oh, I need to make a DC concentration roll. Oh, yes. Yes. For another eight damage. Oh, you’ve got this. I’ll go. Another eight. Oh, sorry. I wasn’t doing the damage, but will you do the damage? Yeah. Oh, sorry. So that’s… You got 16 off me so far, I think. Yes, 16. Oh, I shouldn’t have temp there. So I should be on 16 hit points now. Damn, how much is your total HP? 32. Oof. Blueberry’s not here to 16. Score, it is your turn. Well, this is not looking good at all. Do I need to make another DC concentration? Yes. Dude, we’re missing our bullet sponge. We’re missing our half attack, half support. It’s not. My flaming sphere. No. Okay, on my turn. Yeah, we’re just gonna cast slow on all the ghouls. And boom. This will get this will get all the ghouls easily, because it’s, you know, here. Ooh, does that make us slow? No, it is selective. I can choose up to six targets in that area and ignore everybody else. So I’m going to target the ghouls with it and slow them down. It’s a DC-15 wisdom save for each of them. And they take a negative minus two penalty to their AC. And they don’t get opportunity attacks. They can’t take reactions. Hell yeah, dude. Which means I’m going to… After I cast it, I’ll see if it affects this one. Did it get all of them or all of them? Oh, that’s lucky. Very lucky. And then I will back up. Well, fortunately, the ghouls don’t do much as far as wisdom. Mm-hmm. Yep. So, we got that, and uh.
Yeah, I’m gonna back up a bit. And Aldric, take a party inspiration. Thank you. D8? It’s a D8. Alright, Ipid, it is your turn. About time. You are on your back after being attacked by a ghoul leaping down on top of you. Ipid takes half his movement to get back up on his two feet. And he’s going to strike at the thing. That’s a 21. I’m going to take the 9 damage. And then I’m going to swing once more. That’s a 3 damage. That misses. I graze him, but. And I really don’t. Okay. Ipid’s going to go ahead while he’s already fighting this one in front of him. The one that’s engaged with Aldric, which is the one to the left of him, right? Yeah. I’m going to look at that one, and I’m going to compel it to a duel so that it only attacks me. This is a bonus action. Alright. Why is it? Did it send it? I did. Okay, cool. You try to compel a creature into a duel. One creature that you can see within range makes a wisdom saving throw on a field save. The target has disadvantage on attack rolls against creatures other than me, and it can’t willingly move into a space that is more than 30 feet away from me. So these guys, so these two, these two got a lot of nerfs. But as I’m like, as I’m hurting the one in front of me, I look over at the other one. It’s Aldric. And I don’t know. I just like hurt me instead. And yeah, that’s going to be if it’s going to be if it’s turn. It stares at you with fiery red eyes. Slowly moving, coming after you. Aldric, it is your turn. Alright, I was just reading your spell. It says the spell ends if you make an attack roll against a creature other than the target. So does that mean you have to attack that guy now? I am going to attack him, but hopefully he comes towards me and I’m able to do what I need to do. Okay, Aldric’s going to run away, saying that they’ve been slowed down and are even more lethargic. He’s going to run away behind scoring there. And then. Oh. Okay, cool. And then he’s going to cast the scatter. That says it’s 60 feet. So, is that right? I can point it towards them. Shall I put the thing in the chat? Yes, please put it in the chat. Check I’m doing it right. Each creature at a 10-foot radius, constitution saving throw. And, well, on my page, it says it’s 60 feet range. Yes, so you can do that anywhere within 60 feet. Yeah. Like, like away from me, right? Yeah. It’s not like around me. Yeah, yeah. 10-foot radius. So I’m going to attempt to get all of them without getting Ipid, but I don’t know if I can. But that would be the attempt. No, if you get the one next. If you hit the one next to Ipid and the other two, you will also hit Ipid. Yeah. You want to center it on this one. And then maybe Ipid might still be pretty close. If I center on the guy on the left, does that get the guy on the right?
Yes. But that would also end compelled duel. That would end that. We’d Aldrich know that. Probably. We’d Aldrich know what. Whatever the point is, I think these guys. I just wanted their concentration to be on me. Maybe because I’m the closer target, they might just stay that way. Well, I’m going to do it anyway. Cool. Aldrich doesn’t know. So, yeah, I’ll try and hit the two guys then. So they need to make a constitution saving throw. Looks like you’ll get all three with that. Oh, does it? Yeah. Oh, nice. Awesome. I thought it’s like the color color area. Or is it the lined area? A little bit. The colored area for sure. The area that the circle touches are the DM’s judgment. Okay, okay. Ah, okay. That makes sense. DC-14 Constitution. Saving throw. You’ve got to be kidding me. Well, two of them make it. He still gets half damage on a save, so. So roll your damage. Damage rolling. So so. Another great thing. You hit them, your spell ringing out loudly. Maybe a little too loud in this space. That’s my turn. Alright. The ghoul advances on Ipid. What’s up, Loser? Slowly it swings with an arm covered in blood. Really? The 20? You all slowed? Slowly and surely it comes up and manages to just jab right up into your side right past the plate. And if it’s like, I can’t do anything about this! What? Oh, man. Can’t help you. Isn’t he a disadvantage, though? Because of the slow. No, but he hit it. It was a natural 20. Oh, so the so the slow doesn’t give disadvantage, but it makes it so it only has one attack when it takes the attack action. Oh my god! Okay, good. The next ghoul attacks. Fuck you. This one’s slowly reaching out as you take half a step back out of its reach. And the third one comes close and just grazes your armor, just slowly petting you. Guys, I have them all bunched up if you’re gonna do something. It’s your turn, Scorn. Yeah, oh, this looks absolutely terrible. Are any of these ghouls injured? They all are a little injured. Uh-huh. Okay. See if I got anything else really selective. No, I really don’t. Okay. And I’m concentrating on slow. So, um. Okay. Let’s see. Which one did he cast? This is the one that he cast Compelled Duel on, isn’t it? This one. But since they all took damage. This one? Yeah, but since they all took damage from the shatter, the Compelled Duel.
Oh, oh, oh. Okay, uh, that’s fine. Um, I’m gonna cast Dissonant Whispers onto this one right here. Target him. Alright. Yeah, okay, we got him targeted. Yay! Dissonant Whispers. We’re gonna bump it up to second level. And there we go. T15 wisdom. And 46, not 3. Oh, that’s okay, I guess. So, 50. Did he make this save? Oh, and saved yet. He failed. Four. Okay, 15 psychic damage to him, and he is. He can’t take reaction, so he doesn’t run away. Bummer. I’m kind of got my spells working against each other here. I should have thought of that. Anyway, 15 psychic damage. Done. And my last part of inspiration. I’m going to drop on Ipid because it looks like he’s going to need it. I think I will. Oh! How wouldn’t healed I saw? Ibid, it’s your turn. You’re surrounded. You’re bloody and you’re dying. Man. Just another Tuesday. Ibid’s for his main concern. He’s going to go ahead and attack the one that just got hurt by Scorn first. I’m going to go ahead and swing at this asshole. 22. Alright, you hit. I’ll do 13 damage to that guy. And then I’m going to do the one that’s to the south of me. I’m going to use my second attack and hit that one. Something’s field. Oh, thanks. It’s another 22. Yep, you hit. Do damage for my greatsword. That’s 8 damage, but with that, I’m going to go ahead and use a second-level divine smite against Fiend/slash Undead. That’s 14 damage. And these guys can’t take opportunity attacks, can they? Nope. Can I run, like, since they’re slowed down, can I, like, scurry past them to get to my group? Yeah. Beautiful. So, like, yeah, I give them these two pretty decent hits. I’d say on my part pound myself on the back, and I push them aside and I run back to the side to my group side. I’m gonna like push back them, and I’m like, if you guys got it, if you guys have something big, do it now. And if it’s gonna end its turn right there. Alright, um, can I cast two spells in a turn? Like, so one as an action, one as a bonus. Yes. Cool. But one has to have the cast time of a bonus action. Oh, let me have a look. I’ll look. Double check that. Yeah, so when it says time BA, that means now that Ipid’s back here with us. Aldric. Eyes and hands start to glow red, I would say, if this is a possible if this is gonna work. Did I say red? I start to glow green. And he’s gonna look at the guys and be like, we got this, guys. We’re fine. We can do this.
And he’s gonna heal heal the those guys, us, for 3d4 plus your spell casting ability on a fire. So it’s 3d4 plus what? Plus 3, I think. Do we roll that or do you roll that? I’ll roll that. So I was just putting it in the chat, so I was checking that I’m doing this right. So I can cast that and then cast another spell that costs an action. Yes, and you can also upcast it if you have higher level spell slots you want to use. Right. This is already level 3, this particular one. Okay. There’s no like button to cast it. Oh, yeah, there is. So here we go. You just brought it up again. Oh, there you go. Damn, really? Nine? I’m good. So all of a sudden, I’ll take nine points. I’ll apply that. Thank you. Thanks. Aldric steps forward and he’s had enough, so yeah, Fireball fireballs the hallway. Is Fireball a bonus action? No, the healing was a bonus action. Oh, okay, good. So, somewhere about there, I guess, so that it doesn’t. Yes! Incredible. Incredible. So, I’ll do the damage now. 8d6. Not bad. I swear if one of them doesn’t die. See what happens. One of them falls. There he goes burning and stops moving. If Ultrica’s movement left, he would get back behind. The air smells strangely like roast pork. I hate that we ate pork last night. The remaining ghouls come lurching forward, slowly, still burning. And it attacks. I know. Its burning claws rub ash along your clothing as it tries to attack you. He does not know when to give up. This one manages to claw you with its burning hand. Okay. And I’m going to use a reaction. Okay, constitution save. Here we go. Boom. Well, I think that makes it. Yep, that makes it. Okay. And yeah, the one that just hit me is getting a hellish rebuke. And this time I gotta use a spell slot for it, but that’s okay. Um a first level slot or yeah, we’ll make it a first level slot and boom He needs a deck save DC 15 and here’s the damage That’s really weak. Okay.
He takes five points of fire damage. That was weak. You now, Scorn, it’s your turn. Okay, I’m gonna step back here and Scorn raises his pipe to his lips and blows. And Thunder Wave comes out of it. We’ll make this a second. I’m about done messing around with these ghouls. We’ll make it a third level Thunder Wave. Because I want them to die. Boom. We’re going to put that right there. Yeah, right there. Oh, he made it. Damage. And the other one? Fails. Okay. So, that’s some decent damage. 20 points of damage. Alright. The one that failed its save is pushed back 10 feet and takes 20 points. Where’s most of the I don’t know which one was which, but one of them is getting pushed back. The other one only takes 10 points. You see the one on the right crumple and fall as the Thunder Wave rolls over it, and the other goes flying backwards, head over heels. Nice. So, I killed this one. Is that what you told me? Yes, that one. Ah, nice. Okay. And, um. Yeah. Yeah, I just gotta hit again. Ow. I’m gonna step back a bit. That’s me done. Ipid, it is your turn. Um, got you. Ipid’s gonna go ahead and is there still fire in these in this area? Or there’s some lingering, smoldering bits, but no more big flames. Alright, because Ipid is about tired of this guy who’s still standing, so he’s gonna charge him with his great sword and go ahead and hack at this bastard 23 hits. Yeah, 14 damage. I’ll take that. I’ll keep that 14, and I’m gonna hit one more time. 21 and that’s gonna be 10 damage. So I did third. So I did 24 damage total. Ipid is getting into the habit of chopping these ghouls to pieces after they’re already dead. Cutting it down with one stroke and cutting in half with the second. I got him. And Ipid kneels down and winces and holds his side. And I think I’m gonna go ahead and heal myself up using my lay-on hands. What do I got? I got um dude. Where the I always oh my god, this little character. There we go. I think I’m gonna use 15 on lay my hands on myself. Not a hundred and one not one hundred and fifty-one, fifteen. As you heal up, you hear the screaming continue from the north. We need to move. Agreed. Yeah.
Okay. Alright, I’m back on my feet, guys. Let’s keep it moving. Let’s go. Oh, yeah, okay. As you advance, the sound seems to be coming from the east, from behind a door. East, this way. A bit more northeast than that. Nothing there, Darren. Let’s go this way. So it’s coming from this direction, is what you’re telling us. Yes, from up here. Okay. Coming from this door. Score and I cast Thomaturgy. As soon as the door is inside, I cast Thaumaturgy. Okay. And if it’s not locked, it’ll open. So we don’t have to be, you know, right up against it, getting lunged at. The door comes full. It seems to be clear. Also, it’s more dramatic this way. I can kick open doors with my brain. Or something like that. You’ll see two ghouls hunched over a woman who is barely holding them back. Step away from her. Oh my god, I swear if this is fucking Rose. You’ve met this woman before. Could be. Oh my. Could we… If we ran up on these guys and their priorities on her, could we say that we could we justify a surprise round? Roll stealth. We weren’t really being stealthy while we were disadvantage. Okay. Guys, we got to get the average of. Wow. My one brings us down as a group completely. I run into that hallway, armor clanking, just boots hitting the ground, and I yell at them, stay away from her! I guess we roll again. Any time for any actions? Yeah, no, right? Initiative. Initiative. Boom. Oh. What? It’s telling me that. What is it says? Let me see. What’s it say? Oh, now it’s good. Okay, there it is. Don’t I still have a bardic inspiration? Yeah, you do. 15, D8? Or what the hell? Why did it roll twice? It’s a D8. I don’t know. I’m taking that 15. Let it be known. That’s a D8. So. I’d like my initiative to be 18. It gave me two, though. What the hell? Don’t know. You’re doing it with disadvantage for some reason. No, but it would have rolled on the same thing. Well, it didn’t. Yeah. I updated it manually. You’re at 18 now. Beautiful. Don’t use Thunder Wave now. Nah, no. It’s your turn. Rose looks at you. Don’t you dare. Of course not, my lady. I’m going to move up. Yeah, I can’t really. I could see two of them. I don’t know if they’re any more. Don’t talk about Rose like that. No, no. Let’s just cast slow one more time. That did us pretty good last time, so. It’s an excellent spell. So, yeah, we’ll target both of the ghouls. And there’s my potential AOE, but they’re the only two I can see, so. Well, that one’s whammied. And that one, does he have a wisdom penalty?
No. Oh, he’s straight up wisdom roll. He’s saved. Bummer. So one of them is slowed. Okay. Why does it could you mark the one? Yeah, why does it can it can it have like the same things that we have when like we have an effect on us? It’s supposed to, but it’s no visible to you unless unless you can’t see it either. No, I can’t see it either. Okay, so which one’s slow, top or bottom? Top a good top never rushes. And with oh my. Okay, so it was right there. I just think, yeah, yeah. It was right. Okay. I’m taking a step back after casting that. Alright. Will you do a bonus action? I don’t really have a bonus action to use at this point. Okay. Not really. Ipid, it is your turn. Ipid is going to be this woman’s knight in shining armor. And run up to this first one that I’m looking directly at, and I’m going to swing my great sword at him. A 12 does not hit. Does not. But it does graze, so that’ll be three damage. You still got that bardic inspiration, right? Um, I mean, no, I used it up for the initiative roll. Oh, oh, that’s right, you did. I forgot. Uh-huh. So I’m going to go ahead and attack once more to this guy. Please let this hit. 25 hits. Yep, 25 hits. Remember damage one more time for a chance to keep that 14 damage. And then as a bonus action, I’m going to make it a first level divine smite. That’s 14 plus 16 damage total that I did to this guy. Plus three on that graze. It is visibly staggered. Under the effect of the slow and your attacks, it is halting. Do I look hot when I do it? Like, do I look impressive in front of the lady? You look half dead. Yeah, I guess that’s true. No, but that’s even hotter, right? Covered in cuts and wounds, and your armor is bloody and covered in the guts of ghouls. You’re about as appealing as a butcher’s shop. Hey, that’s pretty appealing. You go in, get a… Let me get a nice, you know, nice porter house. See Rose look up at you guys And you see her mouth Ipid I am sorry Oh no oh no And Ipid you feel yourself being pierced by many daggers as a clown appears in front of you appeared in front of him It’s hitting him and the two ghouls. Oh my gosh
Everyone in the cloud takes thirteen slashing damage that’s not nice. You see one of the ghouls stop moving as it looks like a puppet with its strings cut as it falls to the floor. Ipid takes concentration. What am I concentrating on right now? Whatever it is, I still keep it. Ipid takes these blades as he winces against the pain. And he looks up at Rose and he’s like, what the hell? She looks at you and says, I’m sorry. She could have just backed up. And she heals you for twelve. Hey, I’ll take it. So I’m back up to 31. Nice. But I’m still in the cloud of daggers. Yes. Then you see the ghoul jerk around as it takes more damage from the daggers stabbing into it repeatedly. Begins lurching towards you, Ipid, swinging out with its bloody claws. While within the cloud of daggers, its attacks seem to be hindered by the knives floating around it, and it fails to make contact with you. Aldric, it is your turn. Okay. Uh chromatic orb is gonna move into the room. Try and move over there. Maybe there. Chromatic orbs with fire at the ghoul. Oh no. Well, hold on. Would I be able to add sparrow inspiration to that, or is that not a thing? Yeah. Do I still have it? By this time. If you have it, you just can’t. Yeah. Last for ten minutes. Cool. D8. Yeah. Never mind. A droid. Yep. You sh did you roll your what are they called? The premonitions importance. Not so far, no, I haven’t done that. Should roll those for the day. Let’s do it. I’m hiding it from those guys. Just for dramatic effect. Well. Well, that’s not going to help. That’s it. I think that was my turn. Scorn, it’s your turn. Right. Let’s see. One, two, uh, three. Let’s make a diagonal move.
Here. And you take 64 as you enter the cloud of daggers. Oh, sh. How could I forget about cloud of daggers? That was careless of me. And I go ahead and roll it. You fool! I say as I win, says daggers pass by me and cut my cheek. Oh, that hurt. I have 13 hit points left, yay. Anyway, having done that, I am gonna smack this ghoul with the true strike. Scorn’s becoming a warrior. He’s running out of spell slots, too. Let’s see. Let’s just. I think I hit him. You did. And I’m gonna hurt him. No, I’m not. Okay. Scorn takes a step back. Because daggers hurt. And my true strike obviously doesn’t. Okay. That’s me done. Ibid, at the start of your turn, you take 64. So what do you want me to roll that? Oh, roll that. Oh! That’s half of what I got. That brings you down to 16 hit points. Beautiful. Um, yeah. Ipid fighting through the pain. He’s gonna go ahead and try his best to end what’s in front of this guy. So as soon as this thing’s dead, hopefully, Rose will do the kind thing and end this freaking spell. He attacks 12. That misses. Right? Yes, that misses. Alright, so I graze him for three. I’m gonna attack once more. That is a 23 hit. So that does hit. I’m gonna go ahead and roll damage twice. 10 on the first one. 15 on the second one. Oh, yeah. How does he look after I do that 15? Still on his feet, still swinging. Cool. Bonus action. I’m gonna apply another divine smite on this guy. Might as well, these guys are undead, so 15 plus 20, baby. It crumples under the smite, its flesh searing as light burns it from inside out. As she sees that fall, Rose dispels the cloud of daggers. Aldrich says, Are there any more beyond that space? Rose. Rose looks at you. Oh, there’s more. They’re crawling in here. But don’t worry, you can take them. At this point, I’m not so sure. I’ve been calling blood. Aldrich says to everyone to gather around, and he’s going to cast another one of those. Well, what you see is his hands glowing green. And his eyes glow green. Similar to the clothes he’s wearing. Because his clothes are green and brown. There’s a kind of greeny, browny color. And even Rose Thorne is going to be in this. And everyone gets healed 11 points. As he kind of moves his hands around in the direction of everyone. Even Rose Thorn. Rose smiles, appreciating. Well, don’t you have fun tricks? I certainly do. Rose, what the hell are you doing down here? Oh, I have business in the sewers, you see. I’m a sewer person.
Not touching that one. What type of business? I feel like every time we see you, you’re underground somewhere, almost dying. Oh, I’m just looking for something. You don’t look for it. Okay. Well, I mean. Also, we don’t appreciate how you lied to us. We realized that Thalon wasn’t your ex after we had spoken to him. Oh, that’s what he believes. What is that supposed to mean? Oh, you know how men are. They’ll say anything to protect their reputation. Right. Not going to touch that one either. You guys need a rest? I really could use a bit of rest. Yeah, me too. I’m in fairly poor shape here. You probably should have saved healing if we were going to rest anyway. Yeah, I just think about that. Either we rest or we get out of this place. I mean, wait, so the screaming was her, now that we realize. Rose, what are you looking for? Yeah, Rose. Come on. Like, what are you looking for down here? Because we might have the same goal here. Oh, some idiots went looking for some ancient temple at the library. And I keep a little bit on tab for anything that passes through there that smells profitable. That’s not nice to call people that saved you idiots. Yes, that would be us. Oh, you’re the ones looking for it. Yeah. There’s no good business. There’s some evil business going on in these temples, and we’re here to put a stop to it. Oh, yes, fighting evil. Exactly what I’m going to the temple for as well. Right. Exactly. You thought you could get here before us and take whatever it is and sell it. I don’t think sell is the right word. That implies one person. It’s more of an auctioning perspective. Huh? Look, whatever it is, I doubt you’re able to fence it. This type of stuff, it isn’t really too reliable based on what we’ve gathered so far. Oh, child, you can fence anything in the crossroads. Child. How old do you think I am? I don’t know, somewhere under 70. I mean, yeah. Fun fact, dragonborns have the same lifespan as humans, which I find hilarious. Regardless, do you have any leads? How long have you been down here? I’ve been down here maybe two or three days. It’s hard to keep track without the sun. Oh my gosh. And you haven’t found anything? I found lots of things. Lots of dead bodies, lots of ghouls. Yeah, about these ghouls. Do you know where they’re coming from? I think they’re coming from the temple. But they’re just like rats down here. Yeah, I could tell. It’s no good. It’s pretty tough. So you haven’t found it yet? Sadly, no. Well, I mean, are you, like, in areas that you have already explored, or like. Like, why are you here specifically? Are you like, have you been through this part of the sewer yet? Like, have you, like. How much of the underground have you been able to map out? I’ve been looking for an exit for the past ten days. Oh, my. I thought you said you’ve been down here two or three days. Yes, I have an entrance that I’ve been coming in through, but I’ve been looking for another exit. Well, there’s one back this way. Yeah, if we were to retrace our steps, we have an exit that’s out right in front of the. What was that? What was that, like, religious place? What was it? Oh, where Thalon. His, like.
Oh, the top of the trend is a good ways away from there, but the entrance is by the piers. Ah, I got you. Because I remember that was the last place we went to before we decided to go to the alleyway and investigate the blood. Yes, this one is right near where the fisherman’s shop was. And where’s your. Yeah, so we found an entrance that’s near the dock. Oh, yeah, yeah, you’re right. Near the docks where we were near a fisherman hut, but um where was the entrance that you found reside? Oh, my entrance is right on the south side of town. Way across from there. The docks are in the north. Interesting. Oh, man. Without more information, we’ll be lost down here for days. Well, I mean. I’ve been leaving a trace of the track of rice, you see. I think I can retrace our steps. I’m not sure, but maybe we should get going deeper in or get out of here. I’m not sure how much longer we should stay down here at all. I guess, but when we’re up there, there’s not really many clues or leads on where this temple might be. I have a contact who might know something. Oh, yeah, who’s that? That’s interesting. I can’t give you his name, but he’s a blacksmith who has been working on some strange restorations for some people. Interesting, yes. Yes, he might know something. I look down at my armor. You know, a blacksmith probably isn’t the worst idea anyway. Well, she doesn’t want to tell us who it is. Um, I mean, look, Rose, regardless, if we’re gonna go see this contact, what difference does it make of you not telling us his name now? Because we’re gonna figure it out anyway. Oh, well, the difference is whether or not you show me how to get out of the sewers first. Yeah, that’s you know what? That’s fair. Let’s be on our way out. Yeah, let’s retrace our steps and get out of here. Rose, stay close. I uh we don’t need you wandering off. I’m gonna hang back and farm it’s the door open. Collided with the wall again. I can’t seem to get out of here. Now I’m out. Okay, I think it’s this way. Rose sniffs the air. Were you guys cooking down here? Could say that. We could say that, yeah. Yes. Oh, this was our cooking right here. She looks at the bodies. Some hacked to pieces, other blown to bits. You don’t really do subtle, do you? If we had the choice, we would, but we couldn’t. I could subtle, but this is the wrong crowd. Aldrich’s looking at this little side room. Is there anything in there? You see a light, but nothing in there. Yeah. Okay, we went this way. Not exactly that way, but this way. Yeah. Rose continues following you out of the sewers. Back up into the streets. She follows you back into the streets of Drowning Wallace. She looks around.
You know where we should go where there’s a tavern I’m quite fond of near here. Oh, which tavern is that? It’s called the Stolen Stalking. It’s where most of the adventurers who pass through here hang out. Oh, yes, excellent place. Yeah, isn’t that the one that we just spent the night at? Yep. Yeah, I mean, that’s where we. Yeah, yeah, no, that’s where we set up. I mean, I feel like we could probably settle down for the night and recover ourselves. I feel like that’s the best choice. You begin heading back to the tavern. As you get to the outside of the tavern, you see Tom standing outside of the stables, his fists bloody and his knuckles barren. Tom! Tom, what the hell? What’s wrong? What happened? Tom looks at you. There are ghouls. Oh. Oh, we know. Yeah, we’ve run into quite a few of them. It’s even worse down in the sewers. Yeah, they were bothering me. I’m horses, so I killed them all. Oh, wow. How many? Two of them. Okay. You. Wait, by yourself. Yep, they’re not too tough. He says, after obviously having to beat them so hard, he took all the skin off his knuckles. Pans. Also, pans to us. Half dead. I’m not so bad. I’m healed mostly, but I’m saying, Scorn, if you were to fight two of those by yourself. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I cast enemies around on one of them and run. Then the ghouls are fighting each other, and I’m at the tavern having a drink. Tom, I think we should head inside. You need to get cleaned up here, man. You look like a mess. He looks down at his clothes, bloody and torn. I suppose I could stitch things back up. Yeah. He’s one tough customer. Yep. He looks at you guys. You ever fought a troll? We have, actually. I once beat a troll with my bare hands. For somebody who spent their entire life at a stable, when did you ever do that? Well, sometimes you gotta do stuff for the horses. Yep. I’m glad that we encharged you in the care of our horses, honestly. Aldrich’s looking at Tom and trying to figure out if he’s telling the truth and would like to roll insight. Roll insight. 16. He seems to have actually fought a troll with his bare hands. Aldrich’s respect is renewed. Aldrich’s a skeptic. Yeah, he was a skeptic of Tom, but he’s finding Tom to be quite impressive. So he’s looking at Tom. Tom begins walking into the tavern. Are we going to find trouble in this tavern? Who are you asking? I’m talking to Scorn and Iped. Aldrich’s saying, Are we going to find trouble in this tavern? Are we going to be okay? I don’t think it’ll be as bad as the storm drain. Yeah. Plus, we need to see what Blueberry’s up to. Yep. Yeah. Okay, I’ll go in the tavern. As you walk in the tavern, you notice Blueberry talking loudly on one side. Seems she has taken up selling things and is passing out little trinkets with enchantments on them. Oh, nice. I guess I’m wandering up to Blueberry. I don’t say anything. I’m sort of just kind of confused.
Where’s Tom? I look around for Tom. You find Tom at the place you always find him, sitting at the bar a few pints ago. Already? We just got back. Okay. We just got back. You can see him nodding back his third as you walk up to him. Tommy, we’re supposed to get cleaned up, man. Tom looks at him. Looks down at his glass, looks back at you. I’m cleaning my spirit. Oh, okay. That tracks. I look over at the Goliath bite there and I’m like, ma’am, can you please not serve him right now? Like, I will pay you not to serve him if you’re worried about not making money. But he needs to get cleaned up before he can continue to indulge. She looks at him. Don’t worry, we have stuff for that. Oh, yeah. Reaches under the bar and pulls out a soapy cloth and a bowl of water and puts it in front of the bottom. The thing is covered in like bar. Like, what’s that one powdered cleaner? Barbin’s friend. Yeah. Ooh, that against open skin is probably great. You see Tom pick it up and just begin wiping off his hands with it. The water’s slowly turning bloody and foamy, but he doesn’t mind. A lot of what he’s having. Ah, I don’t think so. Oh, okay. Fire grog then. Ibid looks over at Rose and is just like, so would you. Is the plan here to just sort of settle for the night, and then tomorrow you can take us to your contact? Yes, tomorrow we’ll go find my contact. Can I roll for insight to see if she’s going to actually hold up on this? Yes. Seven. She is as trustworthy as they come. Ah, yeah. Oh, okay, perfect. Well, um, you know, uh, I don’t think Tom’s gonna use his room at all tonight. Um, but if you’re able to find your own accommodations, then uh, we’ll meet back up here tomorrow in the morning, then you look at her, she looks at you. My own accommodations? Boy, what do you mean? I mean, get your own bed to sleep in, you know, until tomorrow. Oh, my own bed. Right, yeah. She looks over, puts her hands on her chest, pulls a little down on her cleavage. I’ll be so lonely. Ibid squints and he’s just like, Yeah, well, you know, the rooms are pretty cozy. And Ipid goes ahead and heads upstairs. She looks over at Aldric. He’s a fun one to mess with. She walks over at the bar, sits down, and begins ordering. He can be pretty serious at times. I’m going to go and sit next to Tom and have a tea. Alright, you have a nice tea as Tom downs his fifth tea? Or is beer? He’s on his fifth beer. Thorn’s getting a drink, and while he’s while he’s nursing that drink, he’s casting mending on his clothes. Anything else the ghouls ripped up? You see Rose pouring out a large bottle of wine that she had somehow gotten from somewhere other than the bar. I don’t like people. I just quietly, so as not to attract attention. They don’t like you bringing your own stuff in here, you know. She looks over at the bar to keep. Doesn’t matter. We’re friends. Oh, well, okay then. Right? The Goliath looks down at her. You still have to pay your tab. She would have a tab. Yep. Yep. It doesn’t matter if you can pull the bottle off the shelf without anyone seeing. You still have to pay for it. Ooh, the whole bottle? Oh, nice. Okay. You see Rose down a glass in one go and begin pouring another.
Might as well drink the whole bottle then. Now, what would you like to do in your downtime in the night? Scorn’s gonna play a few songs for the folks at the tavern after he cleans himself up a bit. Ultric’s sitting next to Tom, just kind of watching him and kind of wow, like thinking, wow, he downed two ghouls. And he’s like a he’s like a legend, I guess. So he’s just kind of looking at him in awe and just kind of sitting next to him. Not really saying much, but listening to Scorn’s music as well. Aldrich seems to be very impressed about other people’s feats. I feel like he also needs to remind himself that he can throw a fucking fireball as you’re watching him in awe. You’ll see him go from having five to ten to fifteen and just past count of how many beers he’s had. How is he affording all of this? We give him money, didn’t we? Yeah, we gave him some money. Yeah. Yeah, beers are silver apiece, and you know, he has plenty of gold. Yeah. Um, Ibit heads into his bedroom, takes his armor off, fixes himself up a bit, and just is ready to turn in early. And he closes his eyes and he goes to sleep. And after he dives deep into sleep, he starts to dream just about anything random. And then he begins to think about in his dream, what he sees is sort of like a POV of his view, where he’s surrounded in a deep dark forest, approaching a large wooden building. And then he blinks and then he cuts to the building on fire. And then he blinks one more time, and then he cuts to him looking at the building, holding a bloody sword. And then he wakes up, sweating, heartbeating, absolutely panicking. And he’s not able to go back to sleep for a bit, but he ends up does. And he has a rough night of sleep after that. Alright, with your disturbed sleep. Wow. You notice Rose and Tom are still drinking as the sun is rising. Oh my gosh. Okay. The fog has lifted from around the city and daylight has touched the streets for the first time in over a week. Can we long rest? Yes. Hell yeah. Scorn’s going to play his theme song for the bar. Oh, yeah, what’s that? What? I’m putting it in the chat right now. There we go. It’s hard to be the bard. And if you haven’t heard that, listen to it later. It’s hilarious. Yeah, let’s take a short break and come back in 15. I need a refill. Alright.
What?
You can leave it open. There’s something I haven’t been using in my character abilities. Can you hear me, Squire? Yeah. Just wondering, maybe you were. I’m good. I can hear you now. Cool. Well, as a human, I’ve got heroic inspiration. I haven’t been using it. It doesn’t cop once per long rest, you can re-roll a D20 roll. Yeah. But it doesn’t copy through, or at least I haven’t seen it in Foundry. Yeah. That one’s not automatic. You’re going to have to use it when you want it. And just tell me. Yeah. There’s right next to your inspiration button right next to your level on the upper right corner of your screen. It’s got the six with the little circle around it. On the left side of that circle, there’s an inspiration indicator. Okay, right. So maybe that was that. Yeah, click on that and light it up and then just click it off when you use it. Awesome. And it also says I can give it to someone else who lacks it. Don’t I paste that text in there? But I mean, I don’t know if that’s playing by the your rules as the GM. Let me take a look at the human. I didn’t know humans were so heroic. Human is arguably the best heritage. Is that what they’re calling it now? Heritage? Whatever. It’s best. That’s what they’re calling it. Okay, best species choice in 5e 24. They are very, very strong. It makes sense to me because we are humans. Yeah. So we want to make ourselves appear strong in heroic stories. I can’t even do a push-up. So you can give your heroic inspiration to another person if you have it when you gain it. If I have it when I gain it, what does that mean? If you go a whole day. If you go a whole day without using it, then you’ve still got yesterday’s inspiration when the next day’s drops. So at that point, you can give it away to somebody else. So, since we took a long rest, can I give that straight away to it? Yes. Thank you, David. You can do the thing that’s in the chat there that I just put in the chat. You can do that. Nice. I’ll go ahead and give myself a little inspiration then. So I don’t forget to use it. Reroll any die immediately after rolling it, but you have to use the new one. Should I re-roll portent or just keep the same ones? Roll new portent. Alright. New day. New portent. Yay. I got a three and a three on my first one from the previous days. Okay. The previous day’s ones were three and a three, and these ones are interesting as well. Okay.
As you guys are getting up and coming down into the tavern, you see Rose walking up the stairs. What are you doing? Good morning, Rose. Where are you headed to? Yawns and strips. Oh, I’m just off to bed. Off to bed. It’s morning. And it actually looks like morning for the first time. I think she’s nocturnal. Oh, God. You can’t be staying up all daytime. That’s not good for you. What do you mean? It’s literally the best time to stay up. How about this? I’ll come back down in eight hours and then we can go see the blacksmith. Oh, my God. Sure. Yeah, sure. We’ll see you at. What time is it now? Is it like, what, 10 a.m. or something? Like 9. So we’ll see you around 5. Cool, and the day is already pretty much over. Fine. At 5 o’clock, we’ll be back. He’s not over at 5. And if it is, the night’s just getting started. I’m good either way. I know. It’s just. I’d rather get to the bottom of this situation quicker, you know? The less time we spend in Drowning Wallace, the better. She looks such a. I don’t know why you’re so bothered about being a Drowning Wallace. It’s a perfectly fine city. Everybody we’ve met here has been extremely sketchy, and we’ve been bombarded by dark ghouls, weird monsters, and I mean, this is the first day we’ve ever had sunlight since we’ve been here. Well, what have you been doing? We were actually looking for the ghouls, so I don’t think we’ve got a complaint coming there. You’re complaining about running into the nastiest things in the city when you went crawling into the sewers. That’s what I’m saying. She’s got a point. Look, I just, I don’t, you know, it’s there’s a lot going on. I feel bad for this city, but it’s also just a dark place, and I want to get to the bottom of it and figure this out and fix it. That’s sort of where I’m coming from. You’re a fixer. I try to be. I’ve known a lot of fixers. Yeah. I do. Oh. Thallon was a fixer once. What did he ever fix? He was all about the rules. He likes to follow rules and make up new ones. He seems like the type to be more on making new ones. He wanted to make a rule, but everyone at the temple had to get up at five in the morning. And let me guess, you weren’t too fond about that one. Oh, I wasn’t there. I never go to the temple. Well, I guess, but I mean, in regards to your beliefs in how people should rest. Oh, I don’t think anyone should have to have any particular rule about when they rest. They can rest when they want to. No, it’s a thing called. Sure. I’m not going to complain if someone else gets up at five in the morning. She’s making a lot of sense. I’ve never been bothered by someone getting up at five in the morning. I wish my party was similar. Now, I have to be bothered by someone trying to wake me up at five in the morning. Well, we’re a little group here, and we have goals, so we kind of have to. No, she’s really making a lot of sense. Scoring. What? If you’re adventurous, why should you be up during the day at all? Everything important happens at night. That’s not true. Things happen. What happened during the day that you last dealt with? I mean, often most of the battles I’ve ever had took place in the day. My training has taken place in the day. Nice game of football. I think the day belongs to priests and people who talk to priests. Well, I’m no priest, and the last time I spoke to a priest, it was like Thallon. And I don’t even think he tells us about that.
Look, I was raised in a household where you kind of had to be on time on type of. Look, well, whatever. It doesn’t matter. Just get your rest, Rose. We’ll see you later, okay? We’ll figure out sleep well, sweet dreams. We will see you later in the day. Or night, as the case may be. Yeah. Which is making a lot of sense. Well, I’m going to go back home and sleep, and then I’ll be back over here in a little while. What do you mean back home? You see her turning and stepping through a portal. What the heck? I got to learn to do that. I think we all need to learn how to do that. Like, that’s. Wow. Why was she doing that? Oh, my gosh. Ipid rubs his eyes. He’s a little stressed. Ultric goes downstairs and has a look around to see if he can see Blueberry or Tom. You see Blueberry talking to Tom? Blueberry has a small breakfast, and Tom has a few extra plates. That makes sense. I am going to get a large breakfast my own self. Eldrick 2. Ipid’s going to have a vegetarian breakfast because the taste and smell of meat doesn’t seem interesting right now. What? No, no, no, no, no, no, no. They can’t take bacon away from me. I will always love bacon. Well, for those of you who like meat, there is bacon, eggs, and pork slices. For those who aren’t feeling up to it, there is beans and toast. Can I have some toast and beans and eggs, ma’am? Bacon, eggs, toast, hash browns, orange juice with lots and lots of pulp in it. If it also gets a cup of coffee, he does not wait for it to cool down. He shoots it straight. Aldrich’s eating, but his face kind of turns serious and kind of disgusted with himself. And he’s, yeah, he’s remembering yesterday, and he’s like, why am I eating this? Starts to regret it a little bit. Doesn’t finish it. If it slaps the back, hit Aldrich’s back, like, you need to get some protein in you, man. I don’t mean to be mean or anything, but you seem to be a little. You could put on a couple of pounds. What you mean by skinny white legs that you saw the other day? I’m just saying it would probably be good to add some weight. I feel like we’ve been doing a lot of running around, a lot of exercise. If you mix some protein with that, you get a nice build, you know, I do as I flex. All right. Aldric pulls the plate back and kind of grudgingly kind of fused everything. Yeah. Food is fuel, Aldric. Don’t forget that. Thank you, Ipid. Tea. Tea. Okay. Um. So, guys, what’s on the agenda today until Bros gets back from wherever the hell she went? Well, I kind of need to go buy more healing potions. I mean, we’re going back down in that sewer. I only bought one last time, and well, that was a miscalculation. Yeah, especially since we have the funds. Like, I mean, there’s reasons why we do our jobs, you know. Yeah, we got enough money to buy way more healing potions. I think we’re going to need them. Yeah. Especially if Blueberry apparently doesn’t want to adventure with us anymore. So, you know. Yeah, it seems like it. She’s, like, kind of been doing her own thing. Oh, yeah. We’re not going to offer bonuses. Well, this is the first time the sun has actually come out, so let’s take a look outside to see how things are. Oh, this town does not look any better when it’s well lit. Trust me. If it takes a step outside into the sun-covered day. As you take a step outside, you are greeted by one of the most pungent scents of packed in humanity that you have ever encountered. There are sweaty people as far as the eye can see. Oh, my gosh.
From one place to another. What the hell? What’s going on? Ipid tries to get the attention of a random bystander. Like, hello. Did this ever happen when I lived here? Yes. You remember when you lived here that the days immediately after a long fog were basically festivals? Everyone was out celebrating the sun again and running around getting business done as quickly as possible. People were feasting, dancing, and drinking in the streets. Corn, what the hell is going on here? What? They’re just celebrating the fog leaving. It’s this big of a deal when there’s not fog? You saw that fog, right? I guess you’re right. Yeah, this place was really depressing. I didn’t know this, this, this, I didn’t know this place had this many people. Yeah, when we were walking around, there was no people. It was just ghouls, vampires, whatever. You can’t count the people when you can’t see five feet in front of you. Of course, you didn’t know there were this many people. Actually, the streets were this populated, we could not see them. How many of you would want to go out when there’s ghouls out in the dark? Who said that? Evil spirits. Who’s insightful commentary said that? The random person listening to the farm from the side of the street is looking at you, just wondering how you forgot that you were talking to them. Oh, yeah. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Sorry. It’s like I’m holding him by his shoulders. I kind of like wipe his shoulder. I’m like, sorry, you get back to doing what you were doing, sir. My bad. We’re not from around here. Well, kind of. Wait, actually, I grab your shoulder again. I’m like, how often are ghouls and vampires and stuff running around here? Usually when it’s real bad, foggy for a long time. When it’s clear, we don’t see much of them. But when the fog gets real thick and it’s been a few days since the sun has come out, they start to get out real fierce. Corn, was this happening while you were in school here? Well, the campus was one of the safest places in town. I mean, for most people, not for me. But that’s a whole nother story. I look at the guy that I’m holding. I’m like, how long have you guys have had this whole vampire/slash ghoul problem? I don’t know. As long as I’ve been alive. Cool. Also, what do you think of my buddy here? I point at Scorn. Looks up, Scorn up and down. Well, he’s an unusual one. Scorn smiles. In the background, he’s like, hello. I put I’m going to murder you. He’s a tiefling. What are your thoughts on that? I don’t really care. Right. The vampires. What do you think about me? Vampires here hate tieflings. Oh, don’t vampires just hate everybody? Well, not really. But they have a thing out for tieflings. Are they always that vampires are a little more formal? Can one just find a vampire to talk to? Oh, yeah, yeah. Really? Where? Well, they have a little quarter of town where they live. Those are the highborn vampires. Those aren’t the ghouls. The ghouls don’t reason with you. The vampires, they’ll talk. They’ll be nice. They’ll try to buy something from you. They’ll try to buy a piece of you. They’ll try to take a nibble if you get a little too friendly. But they’re hopefully reasonable people. I feel like if we talk to vampires at all, when the sun is out, it’s probably our best chance. Can you point, can you give us directions to where they stay in town? Yes, yes, in the southeast quarter. So you point to a big tower in the middle of town that you recognize as the library now. Oh. So that big tower, that’s the library. You’re going to go past the library and then over to the west. Okay? And then you loop around to the east. Okay. That’s where you’re going to find the vampires. This reminds me of a video where this Jamaican guy was giving directions. He’s like, bust the left, bust the right. Alright, perfect. Thanks for the directions. Also, how racist is this place? What do you mean by racist? I mean, like, wouldn’t. I mean, I don’t know. Do you feel weird about me and this guy? I look over at Scorn again. No, are you gay?
Far from it. No! No, but is that a problem? No, that’s fine here. Then why did you ask? Well, some people have weird thoughts about those kind of things. Right, okay. This is clearly one of Drowning Wallace’s most enlightened citizens here. Is Drowning Wallace really racist? I like ask that question to both Scorn and this guy. He looks well, it depends on where you’re at. So if you’re down here with the rabble, as they call us, no one’s really racist. But as you get to the more higher-up places, like the school and such, they kind of have their ways. Are vampires racist? Yes. Oh. I look over at Scorn. Do you think they’d be racist against me? I have no idea. Kind of depends on what your blood tastes like. I look over at the guy. Do you think they’ll be racist against me? I don’t know. I don’t really consort with vampires. What about this guy? I look over at Pale Aldric. He’s just a normal guy. Got you. Well, thank you. Thank you so much for your insight, sir. You know what? Thank you for the info. You could be on your way. Sorry for holding you up. Yes, well, he pats you on the shoulder. Enjoy the light of the sun. We’ll try for the most part. And to you, sir, as well. Enjoy. And as you’re looking out amongst the crowd, you see the priests of Salundus walking through giving alms. Oh, just these guys. Wait, like the high priest? No, just the regular priests. The high priest. Oh, okay, that’s the temple doing a big hole thing. Oh. I remember we tried to get a hold of him, but he wasn’t really answering any of our questions. He didn’t want to talk to us, or they weren’t going to let us talk to him. Well, he’s kind of a big deal in this town, and as you can see, there’s a lot of people to be dealing with. Got you. I look over at our group. What do you guys think we should do? I mean, vampires, they could. I mean, though they’re not exactly the ghouls, we could speak to them, and they might know a little bit more than what the citizens may know here. Well, they might know more, but they almost certainly know more. Whether they’re willing to share that knowledge, that’s another question. I mean, I mean, what else do you what do you suggest, Scorn? I feel like that’s our next big, like it’s our next lead that we can really follow. I think you might have a death wish, but look, look, if we’re going to talk to vampires at any point, I think during, when the sun is out, everybody’s around, people are around. You know, I feel like this is probably going to be the best time that we can take to speak to these vampires. And I feel like healing potions first, then vampires. You know what? Yeah, that’s fair. And I feel like I whisper over to Scorn. I’m like, I think, especially with what we know about these vampires and the higher end people of this city, I think our buddy Aldric might have to take a point on this. You might be right. Aldrich’s just standing there smiling. Aldric, how comfortable do you feel about asking vampires about important information in regards to our mission? I’m scared, but I’ll do it. I’ll be scared. I’ll do it. Why? Why? Why did these guys might be racist, dude, and we’re not humans? Where are you guys going to be? You’re going to be behind me? I mean, we’ll probably be with you, but they’ll probably want to hear you speak more than we can. They might not want to listen to us, is what he’s saying. Sure, I can speak. Yeah, I’ve, you know, I’ve got some experience with history, temples. Maybe that kind of thing will lend itself nicely to the higher-ups. Yeah, but you also need to be charismatic, buddy. Don’t forget that. I think Scorn could inspire me to be a bit more charismatic, possibly. I will do my humble best. Yeah.
Yeah. Alright, yeah, let’s go ahead and go to a general store first. Get some supplies, and then we’ll head off and check out these vampires. Maybe some garlic. Yeah, I’m about to say we might get some garlic. I have some holy water. Like. Lots and lots of holy water, yes. Sounds good. Alright. To the general store. To the general store. You walk in the store and they’re selling things. I would sure hope so. They’re having a deal on healing potions. Only 42 gold apiece. That’s a deal. That’s excellent. I’ll take 30 or 40 of them. Holy shit. No. Joke. I don’t think they have that many in stock. I know they do. Oh, okay. They have as many as you can buy. They haven’t done many sales recently because of the fog, and they’re ready to sell. Ipid’s gonna spend 210 of his coin to get five healing potions. Is there any way you could add that to my inventory? Sounds about right. Let’s pull up your inventory and then I’ll add them. If I spend that much to get five, I’ll have 790 left. 90 gold left. Voltrix already had healing potions for like the whole time since whenever we first bought them. And he hasn’t used them. You’re fucking joking. No. Okay. I’m going to get six of them. You just had to get one more than I did. I got the money. I mean, we both did. I only have two, though, but I don’t think I need. Like, I’ve got healing spells. That’s why. As you’re buying the potions, they’re looking at you. Well, as part of our promotion, we’re selling greater healing potions for the price of a normal one. Now you tell me. Wait, what? So 50 gold for those? Oh, we’ll give you the price that we’re selling the normal ones for, so we’ll just upgrade you. Okay. Okay, that sounds good. Six greater healing potions for me. Yes. So it’d be just what we paid now for. Yes, you’re just buying the potions. You’re just getting greater healing potions instead. Oh, okay. Love it. Is there anything else we can interest you in today? Um, anti-vampire stuff. Stuff that helps us from vampires. Oh, we’re all fresh sold out of that. We’ve had a bit of a rough patch, and well, we’re out of stock now. You don’t even have a single head of garlic or anything? No, none. Okay. Is there anybody anywhere in town you think we could find something like that? Oh, I don’t think so. Damn it. Give it a few days for some shipments to come in, maybe, but right now? No, you’re at least a week out. My god, everything takes forever in this town. Because of the fog. Yeah. Oh. Um. Would you guys be happening to be selling any shields? Oh, what sort of shield are you looking for? Well, I take out my basic one, and I’m just like, anything stronger than this, maybe? Look at it. No, that’s about what we have. Damn. Okay. Um. Well, yeah, I feel like I’m not going to find anything better than what I already have. Maybe if you find a good blacksmith, he could give you something better, but we’re just a general store. Yeah, that’s fair. Yeah. Maybe. Uh-huh.
Should be seeing a blacksmith later today. Um, any like general supplies that we may need? Rope, torches, extra rations, like stuff that we might need in a pinch of a moment that we don’t think of often. Yeah, um, hammer and some pitons. We’re gonna need them if we go back down to the sewers. A hammer and pitons. What else? Oh my god, for now. Well, that’ll be three gold. Okay, you got it. Oh, and can I buy one, two, three, four? Uh, can I buy three, you know, I’ll buy four water skins. That will be four silver. Do you have change? Yes, we have change. Cool. How much is how much gold is a silver? Uh, one ten silver is one gold. Ten silver. Damn. Okay, so I’ll have. So if I give him one gold piece, how much silver did he want? He wanted one silver for each water skin. Okay, cool. So I’ll have 789 gold. And then I’ll have six silver. Alright, yeah, here you go. I give him one gold piece and I wait for silver change. Hands you back six silver. Perfect. With these water skins later on, I’m going to fill them with water and then I’m going to bless them and I’ll make it a holy water myself. And then I’m going to make sure each of my companions here have a water skin with filled to with holy water. On top of whatever water skin that they already have with their own drinking water. I just wanted one of each for everyone to have. Yeah, this will prove useful later on. Anything else, guys? I’m pretty much done here. I’m good. Okay. Are you to the DM? Are you… I think those water skins are. Can I create a custom item or something? I can just do that in DD Beyond. Yeah, just do that in DD Beyond and we’ll import them over. Right. Okay. Water skin with holy water. Yeah, we like set outs. We head outside and then I find a watering hole and I go ahead and I sit down and I do my ceremonial processing to make sure we all have a water skin filled with holy water. From the best trough you could find. Oh yeah. Alright guys, I don’t know much about vampires, but I feel like this is a good thing to hold on to. Thank you. Thank you. Of course. Alright, should we head over to see these vampires? Yeah, let’s go. Alright, we make our way towards the vampire district. So as you head over there, you notice the buildings get nicer and taller. None of them have windows. Oh, gosh. They have doors in strange places right out the side of the building, 30 feet off the ground. Oh, gosh. We see a house with a mailbox that says the Cullens. Is there anyone walking around? In this district, there’s as many people as any other. But a lot of them look paler than the rest of them that you’ve seen. Alright, I’ll find one person and say, hello. Can I speak to you for a moment? Yes, what do you need? It’s a small young man. We’re looking for some kind of authority or leader in this area. You know. Leader of you guys?
What do you mean by you guys? Okay. I pull Aldric aside for a second. I’m like, Aldric, do people know vampires live in this city? I think we could be pretty blunt about that. Aldric’s like, sweeten. Yeah. Do you know where the vampire leaders are? Yes, yes. Just look for the biggest house with the tower. He points to a large tower about a few streets down. Right up there, just go knock on the front door. They’ll talk to you. Thank you. I like take one second and I look at the guy and I’m like, hello, sir. How are you today? He looks at you. Just fine. Cool. Are you a vampire? He looks at you and laughs a little bit. What do you think? What do you think about me and this guy? I look over at Scorn and I point at myself. You’ve got to stop doing that. He looks at you in scorn. You look like two normal guys. Cool. Alright, anyways, let’s move on. Thank you for your time, sir. Look, from where I come from, we don’t know many people who are racist. So. Aldrich’s walking towards that tower. You sure we want to talk to the most powerful vampire in the city? I thought that’s what we were doing. Will he have any reason to hurt us? Do we have any reason not to? Look, I feel like if we just come and we, you know, we’re upfront about this, right? We’re not trying to attack him. We’re not trying to hurt him in any way. We’re just here to simply get information. If we find that he gets uncomfortable or offensive or something, we’ll simply, you know, let ourselves leave that scenario, you know? Okay, if they’re if they’re affiliated with this temple in any way, and you tell them, oh, we’re looking for this secret temple, and he’s like a part of it, we’re not getting out of there alive. Well, well, think about it. Why the hell do what the hell do they care about being immortal? They are immortal. Yeah, um, and that’s why they might be affiliated with the temple. Yeah, you know, if anything, I could barely make half a bet that these guys probably are more against this temple than we might think they are, you know? I doubt they want random people walking around being immortal when they’re the ones who are just like, well, hey, we’re vampires, you know, being immortal isn’t all, you know, sunshine and rainbows. And you know what? We may, we, we let, and we can also bury the lead here, you know? We can maybe let, hold on, let’s get our game plan straight here, okay? We can go in and maybe approach this differently and maybe be able to squeeze a little bit of information out of them without asking exactly what we’re looking for, you know? Maybe start by asking them about the ghouls. I don’t know. Yeah, you know, if anything, we could just be a group of adventurers here trying to find, like, the problem, like, figure out a problem with the ghouls. Not per se, we’re here looking for a temple that we think the ghouls are coming from, you know? That sounds better. I like that so much better. Yeah, yeah, no. You know, Scorn, I’m glad that you came with this. You’re concerned. And it’s completely viewed. I’m like, I’m hitting you with like therapy talk. It’s completely valid, you know? But yeah, I feel like that’s the best way we can approach it. And I look over at Aldrich. Are you going to be able to convey this? I don’t know, man. I think I know even less than I did before. Right, can we give me some bullet points? Bullet point one. Okay. If we’re able to get into a conversation with a vampire who’s knowledgeable about this, we’ll ask him. We’ll present it in a way that’s like you guys may be the people here who have been in Drowning Wallace the longest, who are the most educated about Drowning Wallace and its history. We are simply here.
Not from any higher power or any other kingdom or captain who sent us here. We are simply individuals that come from different places who are kind of trying to, you know, we’re trying to do good of the world, right? We see that there’s an issue here in drowning Wallace, and we’re trying to help out, you know, and we’re simply just trying to get information. Yes, and can you can you tell us where these ghouls are coming from? Well, maybe not be like, would you like, because if we ask them that, we’re going to be like, oh, yeah, you guys, of course, you guys know where these ghouls are coming from, you know, more of just be like, would you guys happen to know any information about these ghouls or more than we know, you know? Because, you know, keep it vague. Keep it vague, you know? And be like, you know, we’ve come across ghouls attacking innocent people. We, you know, and we stop them from hurting these people. And we want to keep the city safe, you know? Yeah, we can say the Fisherman guy got killed as well. Yeah. Even though we didn’t really find his body. But yeah, that’s a good way. Like, you know, that’s a good contact. We found somebody that, you know, have gotten into a situation with these ghouls. Okay, go ahead. No, go ahead. Go ahead. Where do you need that? Something else to ponder about the library. If Rose Thorne could find out what we’ve been asking at the library, the most powerful vampire in this city probably can too. I mean, well, if that’s true, right? If it had something that concerned them, and if they were worried about us, I think they would have made themselves known to us already, you know? Maybe we’re not on their right radar, because if they’re that powerful, could be. Could be. There’s a lot of maybes here. That’s why we need to be vague, but like pretty direct with this one, okay? I think we just need to be more careful. Yeah, but direct. Yeah, ask me what to ask, but don’t do it. Don’t ask them directly. Let’s see if they drop any information. Let’s see if the vampires accidentally tell us something. Ooh. Oh, he’s wringing his hands. He’s got like sweaty hands wringing his hands and he’s like nervous. Don’t you know sunlight, if anything? Or daylight? Don’t you know that? No? No, I don’t. Me neither. I think it was blueberry. God damn it. God damn it. It was, yes. All right. Okay. Do we have our game plan? We have a game plan. We have a game plan. All right. Let’s walk up to this mansion. Alright, Aldric goes in front. No, well, checks the door. Is there anyone in front of the door or anything? There is no one. There are just two large looming black doors. Right. I’m going to. Yeah, I’m casting disguise. I’m casting disguised self. Ibbet’s going to tap on Aldrich’s shoulder and he’s going to give him guidance. Awesome. It’s a plus one D4 for anything. I’m going to cast disguise self. And I’m… Yeah. I am a human now. Okay, yeah. I feel like… Yeah, I feel like if you disguise yourself as a human, it’s better. You being our charismatic cow. Aldric’s casting protection from good and evil on himself. Bazinga. Okay. Alright, I knock on the door after casting that. You knock on the door, and a woman opens. And Elspeth looks at you and says, What are you doing here today? Hello. Your name is Elspeth. Oh, okay. Oh, time for disguised self. I don’t say that out loud. I don’t say that out loud, but yeah. Aldric doesn’t recognize, right? No. So, I’m Aldrich, and we are, I have a group with me. We are looking to have a meet someone who can maybe give us some.
Information. Keep it vague. Keep it vague. What sort of information? We’re trying to help. You know? I don’t know. There was a fisherman. No. There was a fisherman. She seemed to kill us. I like nudge scorn. I’m like, you take it. She was killed by ghouls. Ah, yeah. Oh, help is. Help would be a lot to ask. If we understand your family’s been in this city a long time. We wondered if maybe you knew anything about the ghoul infestation, how it started. If you have any thoughts on preventing these sorts of things from happening, we do have some, but you’ll need to come inside. She takes a step back and gestures. Come to the sitting room. Very well. We follow in. I’m like in the back of the group, though. She stands there and says, Now, it’s customary. You’ll have to let go of any enchantments, charms, or illusions. Nervous and squeezed. Do you mean physical ones? Physical ones, right? Objects is okay. That’s fine, right? Just objects. You can bring objects, but we need to let go of any spells you’ve cast. Do we know that if he does stay in illusion, would they find out? They’re going to find out. It’s extremely easy to check somebody for enchantments. I need to take magic because that’s all you need. So, yeah, they’re going to. It looks awfully hot in there. Do you know what it’s too hot in there? I’m feeling too hot in there. Let’s stay outside. This is sunny. Nice day. She looks at you with a very serious face. These aren’t the kind of things we can be talking about outside. Completely. Very well. I look over at my buddy Scorn and I sort of like make it as a way that’s just like, go ahead. Yeah. Can I cast message without being really, really obvious about it? To who? To Ipid. Yeah. Yeah. Can I cast message? Ipid, this is about to get ugly. No, no, no, no. Listen. Brace yourself. No, no, no, no. We can scorn says, very well, no enchantments, Elspeth. And he drops the disguised self. She looks at you eyes wide. Scorn. What the fuck? What? What? I could say the same to you. Disappear from school without a word. That’s where we ended. Yup. We’re going to pick up from there next week. You picked the best house to go to. You really did. Oh, Lord. They’re both like, you got a lot of explaining, both of them. So that story is going to come out. Beautiful. This is like one piece where this is where we get Scorn’s backstory arc. Yeah, better you get it from him than her, but yeah. Well, thank you. Probably going to get both sides of that story. Thank you, Scorn. We’re going to pick up from right there next week. Sounds good. Thank you, and have a good night, all of you. You too. Wow, that was fun. Have a great week. Have a good night.
